    Where do I begin? :)

When I got my Prius, it was more of a "Patchwork Prius". It is an ex-Taxi that didn't have a good life before I got it. When I bought it, it looked like this:

After the first parts car and a lot of effort, it looked like this:

After buying an entire parts car last weekend, it now looks like this:

I've even managed to fine the tonneau cover for the rear boot, which is something I've been looking for, for quote awhile now! Both passenger doors have been replaced, the passenger front fender, the bonnet (hood) and bumper. I have replaced missing or damaged (holes drilled for meters, etc.) interior parts, but for the most part, it now looks like a regular Prius! I'm replacing the carpeting next week and a few more bits on the interior, but for the most part, the car has really made a complete change in its appearance.

I have roughly 432,896km on it, which is roughly 268,989 miles, and she runs like a top! That, actually, is the reason I traded for this car, despite its original condition. Very strong running and mechanically sound, despite the condition it was in when I got it. :)

today I decided since summer is already miserable around here and these cars got way too much glass, and our stupid govt makes unfair laws about window tint, I made some shades from mylar insulation sheet glued to cardboard for all the side windows. 20200606_192539.jpg 20200606_192632.jpg 20200606_192641.jpg

    Nice job!
I (being a lazy sort of sod) bought the whole set from the suppliers (see ye olde PriusChatteShoppe) and have been using them for the past six years. There might even be some pics in my albums, but I'm sure I'll add some more eventually! I think I like your idea better than mine just throwing $$ at the problem! (y) ;)

…one thing I will add: I had a problem with the original rear-shade which involved the suckers falling off, but the original manufacturers sent me a new one, FREE! plus a spare set of suckers and fasteners (FREE!) Great customer service! :);)

amazing how some companies actually seem to want to take care of their customers. I'm lazy too, but I'm even cheaper than lazy, so while I did buy the windshield shade, I didn't spend anything but time on the side shades. when the next shipment comes from the medical company, i'll do the hatch window. lemonade from lemons...

Hope to revive this thread and see latest updates on people's cars.

My 2019 was totaled and I picked up this Gen2 which is in decent running condition but just a little rough on the exterior. I can't leave cars stock for some reason. This car is supposed to be temporary but I'm thinking about fixing her up and just keeping her.

    H&R springs
Corolla 24mm solid front sway bar and 24mm Energy Suspension bushings
Progress 24mm solid rear sway bar with Corolla bolts and nuts
Spoon front and rear rigid collars
Xpel Prime XR Plus tint all around (45 windshield, 30 front windows, 5 rear)
    Wellvisors
DDM tuning D4R led bulbs and fog bulbs with yellow housing fogs
Metal rear wiper from Gen3 to use standard wiper blades
    Full Carbing bracing on order IMG_20220918_132111.jpeg IMG_20221002_145832.jpeg IMG_20220929_042150.jpeg IMG_20220908_094255.jpeg IMG_20220919_101113.jpeg IMG_20221002_161758.jpeg

Front strut bar and floor brace installed. I like this front strut bar more than the Tanabe one because the Carbing is steel and one piece so minimal flex IMG_20221015_111027.jpeg IMG_20221015_111039.jpeg IMG_20221015_111054.jpeg IMG_20221015_111115.jpeg IMG_20221015_111147.jpeg IMG_20221015_141502.jpeg IMG_20221015_141505.jpeg IMG_20221015_141514.jpeg IMG_20221015_141536.jpeg

Any more details on the rear wiper swap? First time I've seen this done. Cool idea.

I got a used arm from a gen3 prius from overseas. Some markets, they come with metal arms with a traditional j-hook.

I was using an 18" blade but I didn't realize it was touching the roof when it swipes. A 17" fits perfect. IMG_20221015_111444.jpeg

Had some steel wool left over from tinting my own windows and thought I'd try using it to clean the cheap plastic headlights that currently looks like computer case material from 1982. I rubbed on one for about 5 minutes with soapy water. RESULT:
    BEFORE: DUST STORM.

    AFTER: SNOW STORM.

    VISUAL ENHANCEMENT RATING: .010009

    OVERALL ENHANCEMENT: -.02

You have likely scuffed up the surface of the headlight lens using the steel wool on them. The polycarbonate material used for the lenses is much softer than glass. I would give them a wet and dry sanding using some 3000 grit sandpaper then use some cutting compound and a dual-action (3 or 5") polisher with a cutting pad (or a lot of elbow grease). I'd then follow that up with some polishing compound and a polishing pad on the DA polisher to polish out all the "snowstorm".

You will have likely got rid of the UV coating that was applied to the surface of the lenses at manufacture, so you will need to apply a new UV coating of some sort. When you have the lenses clear again, apply a clear spray-on top coat that contains UV protection which would suffice to add back the UV protection. Otherwise, you will be polishing the lenses every three months to keep them clear.

For polishing the headlights, I like to use Turtle Wax Headlight Cleaner & Sealant for maintenance cleans.
