    This article also applies to the 2023 Prius although bestcarweb.jp usually talks about both as if they are the both part of the same family - the Prius family. I could have posted this in the 2023 Prime thread because it actually may become part of the Prius family. You decide (or even better I'll let "@Tideland Prius" decide :D), here's the latest translation:
    " Although it was unveiled as a BEV at the event, it would not be surprising if the engine was in the front, and like the Lexus UX, a double power unit of internal combustion engine and BEV is assumed.

     This is because BEV only will raise the price range of C-HR significantly.

     Now, as for the contents of the next C-HR, it seems to be basically the same as the current model, "the coupe SUV version of the next Prius".

     The next Prius is scheduled to debut from the end of this year to the beginning of next year, and the power unit will be an improved 1.8L hybrid and 2L PHEV.

     This improved hybrid will renovate all electric modules, including the newly developed lithium-ion battery, and is called the "5th generation hybrid system" within Toyota. Both power and fuel efficiency are improved.

     It is certain that the C-HR will also be equipped with this hybrid, but it is said that the straight 4, 1.2L turbo set in the current model will be abolished.

     Instead, it is highly likely that a newly developed 2-liter naturally aspirated engine will be installed.

     The current 1.2L turbo is inferior in fuel efficiency, so it is said that it will be abolished not only in the C-HR but also in the Corolla series.

     In other words, the power unit of the next C-HR is 2L gasoline NA and 1.8L hybrid.

     The current hybrid is only FF, but the next model will have an E-Fore that drives the rear wheels with a motor.

     It is also likely that they will add BEVs later, in which case they will be retrofitting TNGA's GA-C platform for BEVs rather than BEV-only platforms.

     There is also information that the overall height will be slightly higher to improve the interior space.

     It is true that the current model, which is finished with design as the top priority, has a slightly inferior rear seat comfort, and that is the biggest point of improvement requests from dealers.

     An important theme for the next model is how to strike a balance between stylishness and comfort, which are the biggest features of the C-HR."

    To be released in the Summer of 2023. Also of note, the current European spec model of the C-HR already has a hybrid version as well as gas only and in China, the C-HR is a BEV. The European spec hybrid has either a 2.0L or a 1.8L hybrid system. The 2.0L system puts out 135kW (181 hp) and has a WLTP efficiency of 5.3L/100km (~44 mpg).

    Stand alone thread is fine since we don’t know the future of CH-R. It could be removed from the US market (but continued elsewhere) or rebadged as a Prius here.

    EEEK - the PRIUS Gen 4 is practical - this new C-HR has got back windows like in the old model - designed ... umm not designed to be looked out of. Basically a 2 seater. I know someone who bought one of the current model - and regretted it when he first put a passenger in the back who griped the whole (short) trip.
