    I would like to have, maybe 5 or 10 gallons extra capacity for camping, but I guess tomloui's suggestion to carry a gas can is the only reasonable solution.

    Roof racks hurt your MPG, especially at highway speeds. Plus they're loud.

    If most of your miles are around town at low speed, I see little penalty. If it's about highway hauling I'd have many second thoughts about this.
