Got quote from local dealership: front&rear discs and pads and engine oil service 600Eur. Installed. Whats going on? Has Toyota lowered their parts prices? I booked appointment but i think the quote is not correct. They said oil service is about 90Eur leaving whopping 510Eur for the brake job. And their standard hour rate is 101Eur/h..

Are you thinking the quote is high or low?

Are the current rotors pretty rusty? I wouldn't doubt it, with northern climate/salt. We're more temperate, and I recall only one instance in about 40 years we had a car that needed a new rotor.

FWIW, Euros are currently on par with US dollars.

Perhaps they gave me special discount because I am a returning customer:) Used to have Toyotas and go there often but then had 9year break until returning back last year. Well, i wish. Lets see. i’m going there since i like ’em

    Low, IMHO.

And yes, rear very rusty and front worn out to limit. Dealership commented last year that need to replace in next service. Now the car failed annual inspection (mandatory here) because of rear discs.. So i better go get them serviced as well as the front. Afterall, car is 12years and 217kkm on the clock.

    yes, euro on par now.

Btw, i hear some (brief) squeeking sounds from back of the car when stopping from slow speeds. Usually in parking lot when reversing. One of my cars had rotten sway bar connecting rods and produced similar sounds. It was easy&cheap to fix. But i cannot see any rods/wishbones in Prius hence i’m thinking/hoping it’s coming from brakes. We’ll see soon
