New OEM traction/hybrid batteries on back order from dealership.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I have a gen 3 that was down with a bad case of head gasket..... fixed that ~ now it has nice hole in the crank case. So, while I gather my strength & locate a gen 4 engine to swap that into my gen 3. I've been looking for a gen 2 at a reasonable price. (to drive VS my 4runner at 15mpg) Reasonable price means it has problems ~ hopefully find one with a bad traction battery.

In preparation for locating a gen 2 with a bad battery I called the local stealerships for pricing on a new battery and they said there are over 200 on back order (none at the distribution warehouse) and we don't know when new batteries will be in.?.? (the parts manger stated the batteries are in "transit")

Before everyone starts GreenBeaning me ~ I'm well aware of the company and their product. I'm also aware of Nexcell lithium ~ I'm looking for a NEW OEM

Toyota Canada has 8 in Vancouver distribution center.

Not sure how many are available at Camelback Toyota Phoenix for $1700, probably $300 shipping or if you have a relative in Phx.

Thanks for sharing the link. Unless you’ve learned from some other source that this dealer, or any other, has battery assemblies in stock or available for prompt shipment, I wouldn’t assume that they do. Notice that the page doesn’t say “in stock” or anything else about availability or lead times. Indeed, that dealer’s Shipping Policy page says, in red letters, “THIS CATALOG DOES NOT REFLECT OUR CURRENT INVENTORY.”

This is typical: many dealers’ online catalogs include every part listed as current in the automakers’ price files, regardless of whether they have any to sell or a realistic prospect of getting them. If a part is on lengthy backorder or completely unavailable, the dealer will decline the order, which until accepted is just the customer’s offer to buy, not a contract to sell.

I don’t know of a publicly-available website that shows inventory at Toyota’s U.S. regional or national parts distribution centers.

I phoned my local dealer and he searched Toyota Canada and specifically stated that 8 HV batteries were in stock at the Vancouver distribution warehouse albeit for $2700cdn. As for Camelback I did not phone them but if you want a HV battery just contact or phone them, no need to assume.

Many Toyota parts, including battery assemblies, are sold on-line. Try a google search for the part number G951047031

These are hazmat, so more than likely can't be shipped and will need to be close enough to pick up.

I tried searching for an OEM battery on parts.toyota.com but they are no longer available, neither 2nd gen nor 3rd gen! Now what?!
