    Details are starting to come out for the new Blazer EV. First, it is not a conversion of the ICE model, but built on a new platform using the Ultium suite.
    • Starting price at $45k to $67k
    • Four trims(1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS) with ranges from 247 to 320 miles
    • The mid trims become available next summer, with the SS soon after, and 1LT in 2024
    • AWD standard on SS, and optional for 2LT and RS
    • RS has choice of FWD or RWD standard
    • 11.5kW charging on Level 2 AC and 190kW with DC
    • No start button like a Tesla

    just as we all remember .... beefy all-terrain balloon tires ... loads of ground clearance so as to not get stuck or high centered while fishing or hunting in the back country ..... it's very difficult to even tell whether this is or isn't the original vehicle we remember!

    Far from the original. Many were disappointed when the ICE model returned and it was just another tall wagon.

    The base trim has 19 inch wheels. The ICE Blazer, and similar sized Highlander, start at 18 inch.

    GM is even putting in high speed DC chargers.

    Is this more pretend sit on a waiting list for years type of EV sales? Or they actually gonna build more than a 100 of them in less than 3 years? Seems like most EV promises from major automakers never actually end up on the road other than Tesla, Kia and Nissan...

    The Equinox EV will be unveiled sometime soon for its fall 2023 release. The guess is starting price of $30k.

    It is as big as the Highlander, thus bigger than the bZ4X. We don't have details on the climate control. A heat pump and rear heated seats will cut down on related range loss.

    Locally, I've seen Bolts(old, new, and EUV), a couple of Taycans, a Polestar, and some Mach-Es. Basically at the same rate as I've spotted BEVs from Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia. Same spotting rate of the Prius Prime, which sells in the same number range as these BEVs.

    Teslas are a daily sighting, but they are in a different position than the traditional car companies. The traditionals didn't have a do or die pressure to get BEVs to market, and had to balance the negative pressures coming from their dealer network. It takes more than slapping a motor and battery into a car body to make a successful BEV. A rapid flooding from the traditionals isn't going to happen, but many have been prepping for the coming EV market.

    GM has been doing that by developing BEV platforms, and a suite of EV drive train and battery technology designed to make the development of multiple BEVs cheaper.

    You may soon get pulled over by police driving a Chevy Blazer EV

    Move over Tesla - GM estimates the Blazer SS can sprint 0-60 mph in under four seconds.

    And Chevy sold 4 times as many cars in the US as Tesla last year.

    The traditional car companies are slow to shift direction, but they do have more resources at their disposal when they do. GM has 7 BEV models coming to market by 2024; some are already available for reserve. That's in addition to the designing and development going on for existing models.
