Wow, just that one dealership has more than 11,000 orders currently backed up ?

Sure makes me thankful we ordered ours back near the end of January in 2020 before there became such an increased demand as well as supply chain problems. (we received our car in early June of 2020, so actually it took just over 4 months but the extra delay was due to a temporary short factory shutdown due to Covid if I remember correctly)

I may not receive it at all.

Perhaps I will receive a 2023 model with possible TSS 3.0. This would be very nice. I value the safety features as the most important features in modern cars.

We just took delivery of our 2022 Prius Prime XLE yesterday. I called around to all our local dealers (Buffalo NY area), all told me I'd have to reserve one from their factory allocation, all the ones listed on their websites were already reserved. I called Fuccillo Toyota (Grand Island, NY). They had a Silver XLE that was already at the port which would be on site in a month. I put down a $500 deposit. It took 6 weeks to arrive. We wound up getting it for MSRP minus $500 Toyota cash back, $500 NY Drive Clean Rebate, and $750 Uber incentive. I was glad to take delivery before 6/30, just to be safe with the $4,502 Fed Tax credit. What an awesome Car!

Congratulations on your new Prius Prime!
    (y)

What requirements did you specify for the Prius Prime?
Did you say "any Prius Prime, any model, any color, any options".
Or did you have some requirements?
Especially with the economy now, there will be a few vehicles, here and there, that were previously assigned, that will be come available.

Thanks to my awesome salesperson, I got my requirements down to the bare minimum, Gray Metallic Prius Prime Limited - with any/all options, or no options.
Even if the car had every option installed, imho, I didn't care. In fact, I would've been happy. I wasn't tight on budget. If no options were installed, I could get any of those options installed at the dealership. The Prius Prime options are all 100% dealer installable, and the same as if it was done at the factory. Although, I might think twice about a small, or so-so, dealership installing the paint protection film.

I posted a videos on how "factory orders" are really tone by Toyota.

I took delivery of my my car the last day of the Toyota $1,500 rebate. I didn't want to chance what would happen to my signed and paid sales agreement, if I picked up the car a few days later.
What a massive rush that was at the last minute. I got to Bank Of America 2mins before they closed. The Cashiers Check is time stamped ~5mins after the bank officially closed. :) I rushed back to the dealership. Then, nail biting waiting for the paper certificate of origin, and then the rush for insurance verification faxes, registration/plates, and the smog/safety inspection. I picked up the car within an hour after all that was done.
I didn't know if the Toyota rebate would've stay the same, go away completely, or get reduced (like it did). I didn't want to chance it.
Fwiw, I also got my car at MSRP. (y) The dealership I bought the car from does a lot of repeat business. The dealership is in an affluent city and area. Therefore, many of their customers trade-in their vehicles every few years. Hence, it doesn't make sense to make extra money now, and then loose many of their repeat customers.

Again, congrats on your new car!

Thanks! We weren't picky. We were looking for a LE or XLE in silver, blue or red. I did ask each dealership if they had any primes available though. We just relocated and previously only needed one car as I was working from home, but now I go into the office, so a second car was needed fairly quickly. We would have been flexible on color/trim if needed. Worked out very well we basically what we were looking for. We really could not have waited the 8-12 weeks the other dealers were estimating. I was hoping the $1500 Toyota cash back that was being offered when we started looking would stay around, unfortunately it didn't, I as glad to get the $500 for June, we'll see in July if that hangs around, goes away or more is offered. The Finance manager really hassled me about the uber incentive (at one point he told the salesman "we really need to take this discount off the website"), but eventually got it worked out.

As a note on extras, we wanted the rubber floor mats which the car we got included. The car also came with the side body moldings, I wouldn't have considered adding them, but now seeing the car with them on, I'm really liking them.

Super congrats ! :D from what I am reading recently that was a real accomplishment considering how difficult it seems to be to get any Prius Primes nowadays !

    That's great!
You also got the $4,500 Federal Tax credit, before it starts to decrease.
And, don't forget to put in for the NY EV rebate.
Drive Clean Rebate Eligible Models - NYSERDA

Btw, some State EV rebate programs have a limited amount of cash allocated per year. So, don't wait to put in for the NY EV rebate.

I was talking to someone at work on Thursday about why I bought a new car.
As I tell everyone, they paid me $7,500 to buy a new car now ($4,500 Federal, $1,500 Toyota, $1,500 State rebate). :) That's hard to pass up on an ~~$35K car.

Plus, even last year, it was pretty clear that car prices were going up.
EV prices could easily go up much more.
As more and more EV's are sold yearly, and there are various shortages for various items, EV prices could easily start to go up even quicker (like Tesla just did).
Between BYD (China), Tesla, and VW, there are now ~2-3 million EVs (PHEV & BEV) sold each year. All three are also predicted to keep having EV sales increase each year.

Btw, the Toyota app is currently a joke.
As of now, 7/1/2022, for Android, the "secret button" to get to the recharge screen, is just below, and to the left of the non-working odometer reading.
The button should be under the odometer reading. So, tapping on the odometer reading, is suppose to get the person to the charge/charging screen.
Clearly, Toyota can not afford, nor get, any app developer that has any experience, nor basic knowledge on how to do the GUI for an app.

Also, although the app is a joke, it does allow for remote "start, cabin pre-condition".
A remote starter with the same ability is ~$600-$800.
Note, for the the remote start/AC/heat to work, the car has to be off for at least 3mins, and I think also locked.
Yea, it's buried in the manual somewhere. I didn't think it was working at all on my car.

You can subscribe now to the Toyota app, and get charged $80 for the 4th year, and lock in the subscription price.
    That's what I did.
We all know that the subscription price will go up.

It's not clear if Toyota will still/always allow the remote to start the AC/heater.
Iirc, for a short time, toyota did add the requirement to older vehicles, and the removed that requirement after a lot of bad press.
Iirc, however, for new vehicles sold after some date ??2021??, the "subscription required (after 3 years)" for even the AC button to work on the remote supposedly stayed?

Congrats again, and enjoy your Prius Prime!

Just an FYI, to let you know how it sometimes go, now a days:
In New England, Toyota has been horrible with communication and new car deliveries.
Typically, dealerships get 4+ messages about the vehicle (ship arriving, ship docked, cars being unloaded, if a car is held for some inspection, expected delivery date, actual delivery, and so on).
For my car, Toyota told the dealership, the car is here, you'll be getting it "!!**very soon**!!".
Initially, the dealership thought my car might arrive that morning. Like it has happened with other vehicles.
Of course, very soon ended up being 2 days afterwards, in the afternoon.

My salesperson says, the above sometime happens.
Fwiw, within an hour of my car arriving at my dealership, I was at the dealership, ready to sign the papers and fully pay. :D
Then we had to wait, and wait, and wait, for the paper "Certificate Of Origin" from Toyota to arrive by postal mail, to the dealership (days later).
Oh well, I got my car. That's the most important thing. :)

But, be aware that you may get a phone call saying "the car will be at the dealership in 1 hour".

    Congrats again!

The 2022 Prius prime XLE finally arrived. after 6 months and 2 weeks earlier than expected. Longo did honor MSRP, did free delivery as well. Definitely recommend. Great experience. Best of luck to everyone else!

I ordered the car 4/26/2022 and received June 9th. I had an overall good experience although the communication on when the car was coming in was lackluster. I think that was more on behalf of toyota then the sales guy.

Nice. Hmm, perhaps I should have ordered one from New York. It is impossible in Southern California.
