This is the latest one I've been able to find: Nav Msd Card V.19.1 - Toyota 86271-GN8PR-19 | Toyota Parts Giant Toyota seems to release an update about once per year. This is the 2019 version.

There never were nor have there ever been free map updates on Toyota vehicles.

Thinking about updating the maps in my 2017 Prius Prime Plug-in. See alot of SD cards on eBay claiming to work, but not sure if they actually do. I've got the 11.6 display, and wonder what my options are for 2020 maps.

Part number for 2020 maps is 86271-GN8PR-20. I wouldn't trust it unless the part number matches.

Thank you so much for this post ! I just bought a used Prius Prime Advanced and got the door open but couldn't figure out how to get that SD card out of the slot! Great pics too and it is very uncomfortable to get to.
    Cheers,
    Bill (Newbie)

Just as an update, I picked up the new 2021 NAV software SD card from Toyota today, and it works perfectly. The maps are dated April 2021. I didn’t realize the 2021 maps would be available so soon.

Yeah, it cost 240 bucks, but I spent $44,000 for the car, and haven’t upgraded the nav for five years, so it was worth it to me.

$240 for out of date maps? Out and out theft. Count me out. Up to date maps are free.

When I had my 2005 Prius, the cost of the DVD was about that much. This was about the same as a GPS device at the time. I didn't change mine, partly due to price, but mainly there was a glitch that allowed you (or your passenger) to enter data while in motion.

NO! Do not buy from anyone besides the Toyota dealer! Trust me, I have gone down this road last year.

For my 2016 Prius I bought 2 map SD cards from eBay and they worked fine. But definitely read reviews vet the listings. Sellers that have been around a while and sell other Toyota maps update cards with good reviews. I usually set the reviews by score lowest to highest. Most low scores are junk but if you see a pattern of cards being fake or never getting a refund on returns you should move on. You don't want to go with whoever has the lowest price.

That said, these days I wouldn't spend my money on a new card from Toyota. The map info is usually a year or 2 out of date even when you get the newest version as soon as it's available and the map interface never gets any better. A phone mounted to your dash with a maps app running is superior. You get live updates and better rerouting and better UI. If you have a recent model year you can use apple carplay or buy a usb dongle to make it wireless or add Android auto.

Sadly, My 2017 PP won't allow me to connect with Android auto. This is why I am getting the SD maps from the dealer, or as some call them stealership..LoL

Just use your phone's maps. They are always up to date and give traffic conditions. And most phones have at least as big of a screen as the small screens on base model Prii.
