How much does a used junkyard Gen 3 Prius front windshield cost?

I pulled into my local towns we replace all windshields $100 yellow sign in the yard place they put in a Prius windshield with the dots and everything and the tint and the top and all that for $140 I don't know how much less you're going to get from a junkyard because they have to cut the other windshield out etc etc I'm guessing you're going to pay every bit of the $100 I paid if not more and they may break it trying to cut it out breaking that seal it's pretty tough they have a machine that does it now but even so sometimes that blade nicks the edge of the windshield and runs the crack through it so I didn't opt for the used route I just went to the windshield place in my town and I believe this was just recently too I believe it was $149 for the windshield and $88 to put it in or something just under 240 or something like that I honestly can't remember but it was under $300 total I couldn't have done any better I don't think

 

Not southern California, but in my neck of the woods a used windshield for a Prius is about $55. It depends on the junkyard.

 

If you can find a good windshield worth them taking out that's true how I could even probably do better at LKQ the one I go to but finding a front windshield and that model car I seriously doubt it usually they're smashed in the front end that usually is taken out most everything up front generally speaking for the gen 3's now we get Gen 2's that are in perfect condition interiors scratch hitting the rear quarter maybe not hit it all just sitting there it's crazy

 

If you have the broken one out not too bad you can scrape the land where the new windshield goes on the urethane that you're going to squirt into that land you need to make sure you get very good urethane it's the glue that you put the windshield in with it's very special you use cheap stuff you'll get leaks pretty much I go to a glass place to buy the right urethane. And then yes if you have to remove the old windshield broken or not the manual tool to do it is hard to use and you could cut yourself and the automatic tool is expensive and I'm not sure you can rent it it's like a sawzall with a special blade and not quite as large.

 

i wouldn't attempt it, the windshield is a structural member

 

While I consider myself an adventuresome DIY'er, replacing a windshield is not something I'd tackle. Too many things to go wrong; leaks, if placed incorrectly could result in stress cracks forming.
