Hello all! this is my first post of my first owner of 2016 Toyota Prius Two (fourth gen)- I will try my best to use English properly since it's my third language- I bought it in 2016 and have used it up at about 130,000 miles now- I had free oil change til 100,000 miles from toyota service- have been changed there oil regularly scheduled - after my oil voucher ran out after 100,000 miles- I realized they charge me 70 dollars for oil change- I went there for two times with paid oil change- I decided started my own oil change- I have used Toyota OEM Oil filter, and used Mobil1 Full Synthetic 0W-20- After about 15,000 miles My engine started having cold start vibrate every time i start it and also it get vibrate at somewhere highway or uphill in odd time, most time it's smooth- I had used bg44k, it did helped- but after two gas tanks, it came back- I suspected that pcv might is fault- because I found oil pooling in the pipe between the top of engine and on the intake hose- and found oil pooling inside of the intake hose which connect to the intake- only one line of oil pooling- not much- I have looked at the butterfly of intake- just regular dirty from carbon- cleaned it with cloth and intake cleaner-

I have bought new PCV- I know where is PCV location- I have searched over facebook group, google, and this forum- I am not able to find any posts regards how to removal/install PCV without taking other parts apart? I am feeling that I have to take intake manifold out to change pcv?

I have bought oil catch can- Will install it after all maintenance complete-

I decided bought Toyota Oil SAE 0W-20 instead Mobil1-

Please guide me and please give me any tips- thank you all!

From rooting around the Gen4/Prime engine bay, the PCV valve is buried behind the intake manifold:cool:.

I’d remove the air intake and intake manifold and you’ll see the PCV valve;).

Not easy to access, but might be worth considering the manifold cleaning while there:).

Once you install the catch can, post up some pics of your handy work (y).

Do you know if you can access the PCV valve from underneath the car? Thanks

    Not sure .

But it is difficult to access the underneath of the Gen4 / Prime given the location of the center front jack point;).

If you end up investigating, report back the findings (y).

I got underneath and took the plastic cover off. I looked and looked and looked but I could not find the PCV valve from that vantage point. ☹️

I'm getting ready to do the PCV job this weekend. Is there any chance you could post some info about removing the intake manifold? Thank you very much

Thanks. This information will be very useful even though I see it is for a third gen Prius and I am working on a 4th gen.. it will give me a general idea of the order of operation and torque specs .

By the way, what is the name that software/manual that you are getting this information from? I would like to see if I could afford to buy it myself. Thank you again!
