I'm thinking about getting a cat protector. It seems all available units are aluminum. One would think that if these crooks are working with a rechargeable sawsall that an aluminum barrier would be simple to cut through. Any available in stainless steel?
Anybody have experience with these products? They seem to vary greatly in price. I'd like to self install, are some easier than others?

These are just to slow them down or make them think twice. If they want your cat bad enough, they'll use the time to cut through anything you have in the way.

Luckily they are mainly targeting the 2004-2009 models. They really don't want the newer Gen unless there is nothing else to take.

The type of material doesn't matter that much... The size of the rivets and how many you use matters. And if you know what you're doing you can put a pry bar under the edge right at each rivet and pop the rivets real quick. The design is not to prevent the theft, but to slow down the theft so much that the thief skips you and looks for an easier target. I mean a gen2 Prius can have its cat stolen in less than 60 seconds, but it makes alot of noise and a thief doesn't want to make that amount of noise and longer than a minute. Of course in Los Angeles...
