Hello. I just checked my aux battery on my Prius 2010. My meter says 47ah and cca 225a. Is that still a good battery? My meter says yes but I don’t trust the numbers. On top of the battery it says ADF 325a. Hope to get an answer as I don’t want my daughter to break down. Thank you

Those are pretty good looking numbers and can see why you'd be skeptical... What kind of 12v? What kind of meter?

If you have concerns and want reliability then just replace the battery.

Otherwise, if it's less than 4 years old, charge it, load test it, (maybe test key off draw for the car). Then decide if you want to replace it anyway.

What are you using, some sort of electronic load tester? 225 CCA is not good. Typically a healthy battery will read well above the rated CCA.

What's the volts, when it's sat overnight?

I don't see how those can be remotely meaningful numbers. To confirm or measure a battery's ah rating, you have to drain it from fully charged down to a low voltage at a controlled rate at a controlled temperature. CCA stands for Cold Cranking Amperes, which is measured by definition at 0°F. CCA is irrelevant to booting up a Prius, which requires much less than 225 amperes, anyway.

The electronic load testers manage to test voltage and CCA, with the push of a button, and give a verdict. With my Solar BA5 the verdicts are Good, Good-but-Needs-Charging and Fail.

A typical new battery, say rated at 325 CCA, will show maybe 350~400 CCA on these testers when in good condition. An ailing battery will have CCA below spec, and the verdict will typically be Fail.

If you look on Amazon the current itteration of the Solar tester is BA9 I think. "Solar" is just the brand name, btw: it's not solar powered or whatever.

Thank you everyone. I did a test again this am and saw that the CCA 223 and charge test showed 43. I bought a battery at Toyota for $270 and did my own install. Their cost for the battery and install would of been $398. I guess they getaway with it. Took me 10 mn. Thanks again. This is a great forum.

My tester is a Topdon AB101. It said to replace the battery.

Toyota doesn't "getaway with it". A person chooses to have them do it, for whatever
price it is. They do not force anyone to get the work done.

Check the CCA on the new one. IIRC they’re rated 325, and I’d wager you’ll see around 350, or more.
