Wasn't the bolt production stopped due to fires? This might be a marketing scheme to kick-start their EV program. But AFAIK - they aren't making them now - in part because they have to replace the entire fleet's traction packs as well as battery/parts are hard to come by.
    But !!
That said - the Bolt, compared to the junkie Nissan Leaf / air cool traction pack? Wow - this is a really great story of how much more you get with the Bolt - compared to Nissan Leaf - who's battery pretty much prematurely self-destructs driving around in 100° temps. But - at least it's a slower degradation than the first generation Leaf.

Heh, who wants to get into an EV price war with GM? GM is good at making sure they are the one that will be bailed out afterward...

Apart from that, I have to congratulate them because I think the American market could use $27k electric hatchbacks. I hope they sell a bunch!

Hopefully dealerships don’t mark them up 10,000!

Yep, this price is getting close to what I consider an "affordable" car price even without feds tax help. If Nissan runs out of the fed tax credit before I buy my first BEV, then GM will be back on the top of my shortlist.

Yep...me as well. Very intriguing price! And it looks like the range is 259 miles. And personally, I love hatchbacks/wagons.

Saw this in the article : "Both the base and Premier trim will chop $6,300 off the top, with the latter now coming in at $38,995. That means the nicest Chevy Bolt EUV is still $10,000 less than a base Tesla Model 3."

I wonder what the warranty looks like on these things.

I'm seriously considering the purchase of a BEV this year. But aside from the price and availability, one reason I am hesitant to pull the trigger is that replacing my super-efficient PP with a BEV is going to cause us to use more gasoline overall. This is because no BEV on the market today can make the long trips that I am making in PP. This means if I replace the PP with a BEV, all of the long-distance trips will have to be by our SUV which increases the overall gas usage. Ideally, I would also like to replace our Pathfinder Hybrid SUV that is getting only 24mpg. But there is no BEV large enough to replace this class of vehicle. I was thinking of swapping it with Pacifica Plug-in, but I missed the opportunity. It was going for around $30K after cashback and tax credit early last year, but now I can't find it anywhere. And if I find it available, it is priced well above MSRP which is already increased a few grand since last year. That makes the final price after tax credit around $45K, way too much for a family hauler.

They should have started car production back up in April, and they have pushed the start of MY2023 cars back.

I wonder if GM has part stockpiles, or obligations to purchase such, that it is better to sell these cars quick. Could just be a move to counter the negative press from the fires and recalls. Though they did do price cuts for the Volt and Spark EV.

Either way, the 2023 might be your last chance to get a Bolt. The plant they are built at is in the process of being converted to EV truck production by 2024. The Bolt itself is on an older platform, and doesn't use any of the Ultium suite. Until GM says otherwise, it isn't looking good for the model.

Considering a 2017 Bolt is 100,000 miles is $20,000 you gotta wonder

I am told hundreds of used Bolts are held at a single holding yard, gotta wonder when those will drop

At least you are further up the tech food chain that we are. We are still rocking a 2012 Prius v wagon and a 2012 Prius C! (y) I just can't bring myself to buy another vehicle in this market....so we will wait it out until we started seeing a 'buyers market' again.

We purchased the Prius v wagon to replace our aging Mazda MPV minivan. It has worked out great. Not quite as much room, of course. However, the rear seats are easily removable. Not as easy as the minivan was...but doable with a little wrenching. With the rear seats removed, the v wagon has a ton of hauling space.

    Agreed!

We purchased a used Pathfinder Hybrid to replace our Sienna AWD minivan. Yeah, my DW wants to go back to a minivan. The SUV is nice on rough roads and on snowy days, but still no comparison to what can be hauled in a minivan. I miss our Sienna AWD which had the second-row captain's seats removed almost permanently for its entire tenure. The stow-away third-row bench can be easily put under the deck to make a cavernous 8x4 cargo area. I hauled all of our 8x4 plywood and up to 12ft lumber in that van. I can't quite do that with our current Pathfinder even though the exterior dimensions are almost identical to Sienna. The new Sienna was also considered last year, but it no longer has the removable second-row seats, which was a deal-breaker for us.

Yeah...far too many people automatically reject minivans when in reality they are one of the most versatile vehicles around.

The 2004 Mazda MPV was a perfect size for a family of 4...it was the smallest of the minivans. And the rear windows went down. Like your van, the third row seats stowed in the floor....and the second row captains chairs were easily removable. Just a super versatile little van.

And the Tsunami Blue color made it stand out. I actually got a few compliments on the color!

Not my van...but very similar to the one we had :

My eldest son will be old enough to drive and obtain a license in just over a year. We are looking to help him get a used Bolt if prices are at least somewhat down to earth by then.

We recently bought out our Leaf lease and immediately sold it, made $10k. We thought about maybe keeping the Leaf for him, but he did not want it as didn't like the way it looked. We personally preferred the cosmetics to the Bolt, but maybe it must not be cool because we drove it.

Yes, we loved our minivans. We ride on the minivan fever when it first became popular among soccer moms. For a family of six with a dog and cat, it was the only option available back in the early 1990s. I had to trade in my Gen2 Pathfinder SUV (then only 5-seaters and with 2 doors) for a 7-seater Nissan Quest Minivan. Of course, that's when the minivan had only one sliding door. We went through 3 additional minivans after that. By the time when we got Sienna, we really didn't need the seven-seater, but the cargo space was just fantastic for our hauling needs. The biggest problem we had with Sienna was underbody rusting which ate through the rear differential. Could not justify spending the amount of money the shop was asking to fix the problem, so it had to be junked. Looked for a replacement minivan, but could not find any that was priced right for the age and miles on it. Then found a used Pathfinder Hybrid. That completed a full circle started back when I traded in Gen2 Pathfinder for a minivan. But after 3 years with an SUV (more of a mall goer than off-roader), we realized that we still miss our minivan. I hope Toyota will make Sienna Prime soon and also make the second-row seats removable.

+1 on missing Sienna Van. We kept our 2004 for 16 years. Countless kid field trips, long vacation trips, and cargo hauling with the middle seats removed the the 3rd row seats down. We traded it in 2 years ago but still miss it at times.

Minivans are great for hauling people and things, and can do so without using too much fuel. Unfortunately, they suffered the wagon's fate here, and now people want wagons that simply aren't called a wagon that use more fuel than needed.

It looks like the 22s are getting the price cuts now. Most dealers have updated their prices.

Good value if you need a 2nd car that's an EV. DC charging on it is slow so it's not good for trips.

I wish dealers would update the price for the 2017 Bolt w/100,000 miles for $19,000
