Ever since I upgraded to lithium from Dr prius, I've been thinking, since the lithium pack is a little bigger in capacity to the oem ni-mh, would it be worth it or even possible to charge the pack with wall power?(with a charging unit ofc)

I know products like plug-out power are a thing
And that long ago, before oem plugins were a thing, there were companies that were offering upgrade packs 4-12kwh

Even if it's only to 80%soc that's at least a mile and a half of ev only. And could be huge for the morning commute given the battery will help the engine along untill 60%soc

Say on your way home you use only ev until you reach around 40% soc (2bars) you get home and plug in. Now you aren't spending gas to refill the battery and will have excess soc in the morning as far as the ecu is concerned.

I did something like that with a gen 2.
The results don’t work as well as cars built for that purpose and end up costing more.

I’d recommend buying a Prime instead.

That is awesome! If you truly love the car, the price/value calculation changes. Go ahead and get the modifications you want for the car.
In my case, I loved the efficiency, which is why I modded my gen 2.

The real end goal is to do a full ev drivetrain swap And I'll frame the ecu or something.

Have you driven a Prime? The thing is amazing. I liked my Gen 2 and my PiP, but the Prime is in a league of its own by comparison.

Not a fan of the look of the prime the gen 3 face lift chassis was the only Prius I liked the look of.

I like the look of the gen 4 eco but it's not a prime and the headlights imo are uuuuugly

I was already saving up for just that happening. Planing on swapping in a gen 4 engine if it blows

I can't quite decipher the above. But the looks of a car should be the very last item on the decision list in buying a car. Arguably, it would be something like:
    1. Safety
    2. Comfort
    3. Cost of ownership
    4. Appearance
With #2 & #3 being pretty interchangeable depending on personal priorities and depth of pockets.

That said, my Prime has gotten many compliments on its looks. My PiP got none and my Gen 2 got none. And then there was the friend I went with on a cross state trip. He said he didn't want to make light of all the amazing tech, but what really impressed him was the comfort.

Oh, and with free charging at work and almost free solar at home, it costs me less than two cents a mile to drive it. So if it's comfortable and cheap to drive, I don't care if it looks like a mud fence. :D

you would need a complete donor car to do the swap, 3rd ECU and all...

now if you have a G3 Plugin like me, you could swap Prime battery and awd system in your car... is what I am doing!
