Hi All, I have an 07 touring and I'm hoping someone in the SoCal area can help me change a couple of things on the Prius using their Techstream? I'm willing to compensate for your time. I only need a few things changed so theres no real need for me to invest in getting my own copy/burner laptop/cable. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Hi guys I want to get techstream (06 prius) and about 20% of the amazon reviews mention viruses from the CD. I do have a really old hp laptop that I can wipe clean and dedicate to be the techstream laptop, but wanted to make sure that makes sense.

The issue usually is not a virus but the antivirus program that picks up and delete one of the installation files. You just need to create a folder for the installation files and exclude that folder from your antivirus scan. No one can say for sure that there is no possibility of virus but on an old laptop I take the risk.

Problem is trying not getting flakey cable as well as flakey software.

Suggest getting the MINI VCI J2534 Single Cable from obdii365.com, can also download the software from that site. Cable is $35

V16.20.023 MINI VCI Single Cable Supports Toyota Diagnostic Software

I've also downloaded updates from mhhauto.com many versions of Techstream available, thousands have downloaded from this site.

Sounds good I just ordered that one. It was also priced a little less than the one on amazon, so thanks. My car is running fine, but I want to get techstream set up and figured out in time for when it is needed.

Don't know, and if you're going this route you pretty much can't care. Most get an old "beater" laptop to do this- you don't want it to connect to the web anyway- Techstream wants to connect to the home server if it can.

The hacks needed to get a bootleg Techstream to work usually are (false?) detected as malware. (It IS "malware" because it does some questionable things to Techstream in order to get around license registration- but it's what you need to do).
