Good luck on your swap. Its one of the easier swaps I have done. I also have a 2000 MR2 spyder with a honda K20 swap and turboed. 520 whp.

i have done it on my 2010. Had alot of fun because the car was used near the coastline so there was alot of corrosion and 3 of the 9 head of the bolts broke off.
I am doing it on prius v wagon. I might do the 4th gen egr modification depending on the time.

Ah ok. I kept my gen 4 egr stuff in a box for possible future but the engine I bought did not come with the gen 4 exhaust mani.

You can keep the gen 3 exhaust. Just have to bend the pipe thats coming off of exhaust manifold and going to the egr cooler.
Here is the video of it

In other words using the fourth gen EGR components, with a mod to the 3rd gen exhaust manifold? IIRC @RightOnTime is associated with a shop that HAS done this. Still, I've heard it can be problematic: the 3rd gen ECU doesn't know there's 4th gen EGR in there, and...

Are you talking about head bolts? Considering how deep they are in the engine, I can't see coastal air effecting them. Either way. Gasket Masters has a video on dealing with stubborn head bolts:

the bolts that hold engine to the transaxle. I dont know what you would call them specifically.

Not really just don’t forget to fill with oil and check for leaks.

Yup i filled it with oil, the drain bolt didnt come with it so i am guessing they probably cross threaded the bolt on the old pan

Everything is put together and added coolant. I am getting P3190 and P148F code. The coolant goes to 250F and after 242F it flashes overheating sign till the coolant temp goes down

Sorry if you have already said so, but did you do a new thermostat? When these engines sit at the yards they will get stuck. I would also make sure its burped and the coolant lines are routed correctly.

The "Elec Water Pump Spd" doesn't look very close to the "Elec Water Pump Target Spd".

Do you think the impeller has separated ?

I used whatever it came with. The engine had 8,000 miles and water pump was removed to make space for putting the engine. I had my tank raised and the car was in maintenance mode for 40 minutes before it overheated

Replace your thermostat. Always use a new thermostat when installing an engine. Water pump SHOULD be fine with only 8k but who knows. You can inspect the water pump when you have the Tstat off to replace it.

Get the car running again until the radiator fan turns on. Then physically touch both upper and lower radiator hoses to check to see if both hoses are the same temp.

If not - you are having issues with a bad water pump, thermostat and or correct routing of the coolant lines.

I would suggest if you have Techstream, to run the water pump through utilities and check propeller speed. That is the last thing you want to go out on you

I cracked open the temp sensor where the bleeder valve used to be. Have techstream connected. The temp goes to 203 which kicks on the fan for few seconds then goes down to 199 and fan turns off. Its on maintenance mode for 30 min now and outside temp of 85 degree fahrenheit

am i in the clear now? Both radiator hoses feel the same.
