The Volt was cancelled because GM was closing the factory it was produced at. Factory mates were the Impala, Regal, and CT6. The Impala was the big seller of the bunch, but the market shifted away from sedans. The Avalon was Toyota's competitor, and they recently cancelled it for the US market because of poor sales.

Volt production could have been moved to another factory in theory, but as a car, it would still face poor sales. Moving production isn't free. While gone in the US, the Volt still has Buick siblings in China. The Velite uses its drive train.

GM was not alone in fighting CARB back then. The others weren't mere bystanders, and were quite willing to crush their leased EVs.

And now here we are 32 years later and they're failing horribly at bringing EVs to market faster than the engineering time requires while their most loyal car buyers would rather sit on a waiting list for years to buy an EV than buy another fossil fool car. So they tell us car sales are down because of a computer chip shortage... Yeah, that's the only reason, right?

Meanwhile the market value of Tesla is more than most major car makers combined and they are years ahead of their competition as they build massive new car and battery factories on almost every continent in the world with many more soon to be announced.

And once the next global economic shock hits major car makers they'll be lowered into their graves. All of this could of been avoided had three decades ago they treated the fossil fool industry like the enemy that they truly are rather than an ally. But they were all too sheepish to stand up against them and were convinced that Tesla was going to be destroyed by that industry and they didn't want to be next. They couldn't of been more wrong!

Maybe not... It all depends on who's in power at the time... If Bernie Sanders is president, they'll get nothing and we'll celebrate by having a mock funeral for them! Maybe even make it an annual holiday to commemorate the day we finally ended fossil fools control of the automobile market?

Nothing makes the fossil fool industry happier than seeing BS like this... Their fu*kery seems to never end.

I wasn't aware that Bernie had converted to Austrian economics. There is zero chance that Bernie Sanders would pass up the opportunity to spend my money and your money to keep 400,000 of his UAW supporters employed and able to make contributions at the next election cycle.

Bernie clearly supports the workers, but he doesn't support the bosses of the workers and that's who benefit the most from any bailout. So if he's going to help, it's only if the people who run the company don't take all the money and do the usual dishonest scam of stock buybacks to increase the value of shares they own, rather than help workers.

Some of those workers become those bosses through promotion. Of course they benefit more, they earn more. I don't understand what makes a person deserving and then not deserving as soon as they get a promotion. Why is robbing my wages to prop up a failed business more or less wrong depending on who the beneficiaries of the theft are?

Yeah, bosses probably wasn't the correct term. I should of said executives... They make their millions in a far more scandalous way than a "boss" of the workers.

Can fossil fuels really die? Until they beat their swords into plowshares - what else can cheaply/easily fuel the industrial-military complex?

Primary reason for modern warfare is for fossil fuels. So you could essentially argue the fossil fool industry in not only the enemy, but they're also the military itself and if we don't defeat them first I'm certain it will be done by mama earth who always bats last.
