That price is amazing, good find! how many miles on your 08? i assume it’s in good shape overall?

if that was the price here in iowa, i would consider prematurely replacing mine too

I paid about 100 more and the dealer said it’s pretty normal pricing so uhh. Certainly the days of 2200 dollar batteries is over for sure. I don’t expect them to go up 09 is last of that case . Gen 3 completely different layout. What you gonna do wen abs fails brake pedal takes two feet to stop etc?.. that part cannot be bought new ?

Won’t be a problem, probably a fatal accident and case closed.

What makes you think that my ABS will fail anytime soon?

Good deal! My local Dealer was selling it for $1275. I asked the dealer to have them install it and they said $899. HAha I said, I'll do it myself. Thanks!

Your 06 still has the original battery? I preemptively replaced mine in 2016 with OEM new. Apparently Toyota used the newer 3rd Gen cells at the time, I’m hoping this one lasts 12+ years.

how will you know how long it lasts if you replace it preemptively?

I did the last battery replacement preventatively because I was taking my 06 on road trips 3 times per month for our kids travel soccer, or trips home to Chicago to see family. I didn’t want to take any chances, so I had the battery done by Texas Hybrid Batteries when I happened to be in Dallas. $2500 for an OEM battery install was about as good as I could find at that time.

We no longer go on as many trips, and have stopped using the Prius when we do, so I doubt I will do preemptive replacement again.

$1330 is an exceptional price. Here in NoVA it is $1699 today and the lower I have seen it is $1575. Now, with so many videos online, self install on Gen 2 is considered as easy as replacing an alternator or a water pump.

Great price! I’m in California and am wondering what the cost of shipping the core back would be. Maybe I can get a local dealer to match

Or just call around n California and see if they’ll match price. Battery is shipped through California anyway.
