    Congratulations on your new car!

Btw, for State EV rebates, the car dealership has to be in that state, and the buyer has to be a resident of that State.
Note: NH is the only New England State that doesn't require the "Calf extended warranty(10/15 years) on certain components(e.g. battery) of EV vehicles". Check the Prius Prime brochure for more info.

    Congrats again!

Only about a year ago, the Prius Prime was the least wanted Toyota in Southern California. The dealers had a hard time selling them and were offering several thousands of dollars of dealer discounts in addition to several thousands in factory rebates. In addition, there was a $1,000 CVRP and a $1,000 SCE rebate, both of which no longer exist. No one wanted a car that plugged into an electrical outlet. This is how a small increase in gas prices changes the consumer demand!

They are not in stock. They are shown as "in transit." Chances are that they are already reserved for buyers, but give it a try.

ah, i missed that. feels like a bait and switch if they have no plans to sell it to you if its already reserved for someone else.

Do you mind sharing which dealer you ended up with? I live in CT near RI. CT dealers are adding $3000 above MSRP. Thanks!

You could try Alderman Toyota in Vermont. They told me a couple weeks ago they are not doing markups. I would recommend Faiths Toyota out of VT too, but they screwed around with my friend who was just trying to get a quote from them... so I can no longer recommend them. So with Faiths Toyota buyer beware.

Thanks. I'm hoping to hear about the dealership in RI. I need to buy more local.

Hi Could you clarify? I live in CT and will most likely be buying Prius Prime in RI. The person who might be completing the transaction for me lives in Virginia. Does this mean they won't be able to get the federal tax rebate? Thanks!

Fwiw, in Conn, to be eligible for the Conn EV $750 rebate, the car must be bought from a Conn Dealership, by a person with Conn residency, and directly registered in Conn. It's all on the rebate web page.
For the Mass $1,500 EV rebate, the car can be from an out-of-state dealership. But, similar restrictions like with Conn apply.

Note: As of 03/2022, if someone wants a specific color and trim level Prius, it might take 8-12-16 weeks, or more.
That puts it very close, or past the Jun 30th deadline for the $4,500 Full Federal EV Tax Credit.
Note, many Dealers will not even offer that option. I found many told me "impossible", or "go pound sand".
I also had one dealership quote me over $6K in "market adjustment", if I wanted to "order" a vehicle.
NOTE: "Ordering a Toyota", is very different than ordering a GM/Ford.

I'm not sure about all of the restrictions on the Federal EV Tax Rebate.
Iirc, Mass required that the person keep the vehicle 36 months, and no emissions modifications.
So, no modifying your Prius to run "Open Modified" at Stafford Springs. Damn! ;)

There is a chance that the deadline for the full $4,502 federal nonrefundable tax credit could be 2022/09/30 because of the supply-chain problems. We'll find out in a month. Ordering mine from Toyota was easier than ordering stuff from Amazon. We will see. I wish I could get a 2023 and the full tax credit, but that's probably very unlikely.

IIRC, the only restriction on what you can do with the car is buy it with the intention of reselling. The previous hybrid one had a requirement of keeping the car for 3 years, but that no longer applies.

The important thing for a buyer to know is that the federal tax credit is a nonrefundable one. If your taxes for the year the car is put into service is less than the credit, you only get up to what the tax owed amount is. The Prius Prime's credit amount is relatively low. So good chance of getting it all, but it still requires an income of $53k.

You were able to order one?

I was just at my local dealer and the sales guy told me no dealers are able to take any orders because Toyota just build what they can and dealers get allocated cars and you just have to pick from what they get from Toyota.

Oh and he said the GM of his dealer is adding $5k markup on all Primes that gets allocated to them...sigh...

    Hello Gokhan,

This is a quick follow up to let you know your order has been inputted and accepted in our system. I will continue to reach out from time to time to check in and give you updates as things progress.

We are only interested in selling cars the right way. Longo Toyota never ads a markup, even on models like this one in high demand. As the world’s largest dealership, we receive more vehicles from the factory than anyone else. I am working with our team to make sure the process is as smooth as possible for you.

If you need to make any updates to the order, or your situation changes, please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Love what you drive,

    Hello Gokhan,

It’s been a couple weeks since we put in your order. I just wanted to email and see if you had any questions on the process or next steps.

We are still waiting for the vehicle on our end, I will reach out once it’s in transit to the dealership. I know waiting can be the hardest part, please let me know if you are considering alternatives. Sometimes even adding another color choice can make a big difference in delivery times. I’m always happy to check our pipeline or pre-owned vehicles for anything that may be available sooner and fit your needs.

No need to reply. Know that I am watching your order closely and looking forward to assisting you in your purchase.

    Love what you drive,

A Ford dealer here just offered me $25k for my 2020 Prime LE (blue magnetism) w/ 30k miles. Perfect shape. I’m the only owner.

Is that a good deal? I have no idea. It’s more than Carmax is offering.

Do you plan on replacing it with another vehicle? That's a big part of the calculation, as you may not be able to find a suitable replacement for a decent price.

I don't think you ordered one in the same sense as with Tesla, or other goods. More likely, the dealer took your money and car requirements, and will call you when a car matching gets allocated to them.
