Just bought a 2007 (Package #6 Touring Edition) and would like a little smoother ride as I find it a bit jarring at times......plus we dont have the best maintained roads in my area. Looking for real world experience with shocks/struts and tires. Thanks in advance.
Does yours have aftermarket suspension parts, or are the tires grossly overinflated? I don't find the ride on my 2007 objectionable. Admittedly, the streets here are generally pretty well maintained, so I don't spend much time on rough surfaces.
The tires are inflated to the specs on door jam. Not sure about aftermarket suspension. Still learning my way around the car as it’s my first Prius. Hope I can free up some time this weekend and crawl underneath and have a look.
The Prius has a more ‘international’ tight suspension than older USA cars do or did. What are you used to? Does the car handle well? Then again, Maybe the seat foam is just worn out? https://www.carparts.com/seat-foam?&vehicle%5Bcylinders%5D=4&vehicle%5Bliter%5D=1%2E5&vehicle%5Bsubmodel%5D=Base&vehicle%5Bmodel%5D=Prius&vehicle%5Bmake%5D=Toyota&vehicle%5Byear%5D=2007
The G2 hits very hard on bumps. Very stiff car. Really easy to bend the wheels. It’s pretty responsive to tire pressure. Try running 32 lbs pressure all around. Your mileage will suffer but it will help a little. Struts last around 75000 miles tops especially if car lives in poorly maintained roads. New struts will not improve the ride much though.
A quick search on Bilsteins website shows nothing available which is too bad because Ive had great luck with that brand. Hope I have more options with the Prius than I had with my Element which was way overpriced factory shocks or generic no name stuff on Amazon/Ebay.
