2006 Prius - replaced 12V battery however it was larger AGM 24R one. The black intake vent that connects from hybrid battery (think fan cooling system) to car's exterior frame behind 12V battery, is not connecting properly due to larger (slightly taller and wider) battery size :(

    1. Wondering how critical it is for the vent to be snug-fit with the frame. Not sure anyone faced such an issue and how they fixed the issue.
    2. Also the existing battery carrier clamping system is also small and not able to fit on larger 24R battery. As such battery appears to be fit well (not loose) out there just can't get the clamp on top of it. As well as uphostlery lid couldn't be fitted well.
    3. Also the replaced battery (not sure if that's original Toyota) is S34B20R, will ACDelco AGM B24R Group 51 cause any problems on 2006 (no smartkey system).
Hate returning the battery to Amazon so trying to figure out a way to manage with it.

did you install the larger battery for the sks system? if so, there are threads here on how to accomplish it.
it will definitely take some custom work to get things to fit correctly. i think you need to start with a new tray that fits the larger battery.

That's an air exhaust duct, not an intake, and as long as it is still in the neighborhood of where the exhaust vent goes through the quarter panel, the air should be drawn out well enough. The duct isn't super airtight anyway. The cooling air intake is by the back seat cushion.

In Gen 3, the battery cooling air simply gets dumped underneath the cargo box and finds its own way back to the quarter panel vent.

Thanks, useful to know its exhaust over intake.

No, don't have sks system. It was more of Amazon showing it fit Prius and discounted pricing, with me checking only the length (which is longer than older replaced battery) however the height is what caused existing clamps to not reach the floor on one side & rod on other side.

Will try if I can get a tray which fits in current spot or clamps with longer rods that could be fitted to existing tray.
