I have a 2022 Toyota Prius Limited. I'm having problems on where to place my EZPass rectangle transponder due to where the camera's are on the passenger side. I don't want to put it on the driver side for it would be in line of site. I've been told I should either put it under the big black covering under the mirror or on the passenger side an inch under the black dots. On the passenger side there are multiple camera's and other sensors below the smaller black covering to the right of the the bigger black covering. Anyone else having this problem or have it installed it. Please, any help would be appreciated . I even call the dealership, but they were unsure where to put. I included pictures of the driver side and passenger side.
I just mounted my EZpass centered below the mirror. It is small and doesn't interfere with vision. JeffD
The transponder is strong enough that you can safely keep it in the glove box and still works. It does not have to be on the windshield at all. But if you want it mounted, you can place it right on the black plastic behind the rearview mirror as shown below. You can't see it driving and no one can see it from outside front of the car either. I never had any problem.
Is there a problem with mounting the transponder on the black dots? (Metallic, perhaps, and thus RF shielding?) Mine has been approx. one inch to the passenger side of the camera housing and approx. one inch below the roof for two years, and AFIK it has never failed to be read.
You won't have a problem with the transponder, but you may encounter a problem with the car's camera system as per the owner's manual.
