I am getting snow tires and looking to get steel wheels so I can easily swap them. I have the 2008 base, so its 185 65 15, but I am not even sure where to look for used wheels, or even how I confirm the fit - is it just any 15's is there also a bolt pattern, plus diameter I need to look at?
TireRack.com will show wheel sizes and offsets, or google 2008 Prius 15" steel rims. Lots of links many to Priuschat.com. New steel rims probably $90. Looks like you're in Indiana, try veldmans.
I used an older Corolla rim, 15” black steel. Fits hub perfectly. Can dig up the part no when back home.
Add to the list Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe wheels, they have the 5x100 bolt pattern and appropriate backspacing. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I went to my local tire store. Sort of know the owner. He sold me a used set of snow tires on alloy wheels. It turned out much cheaper than Tire Rack. And the alloy wheels make me look "cool." My other option was buying used wheels on Craigslist, which I nearly did....lots of good deals (it seemed), but deciding to check the local store was a good idea. Don't know if you do Costco, but might be worth a call.....a membership is $60.... The used set was a nice set actually and the snow tires were nearly new. Price out the door was $600. TPMS would have been an extra $200, but since he was not putting them on the vehicle he said he was not legally obligated to insist on TPMS.
Here's the info for mine, works on a 2010 Prius: 15" black steel rims p/nCorolla: 42611-02471 With lug nuts p/n: 90942-01007 (utilitarian, open-ended, galvanized)
Here's a place to check: http://www.car-part.com It is a website used by junkyards to list the parts and used/searched by customers like body shops. Put in your make model, year and zip code. Then enter the part your looking for; in this case wheel (with image.) Choose the alloy wheel just like your summer tires. The site will then list back to you full service junk yards that have the wheels with the closest ones to you first. Expect a genuine Prius 15" alloy wheel to cost $40. Even if the junk yard list them at a higher price, since your buying 4, don't be afraid to call them and offer them just $40 each. Prices are generally negotiable at junkyards. If you then come to a price agreement, drive to the junkyard and pick up the parts which will be waiting for you at the front counter.
Gen 3 alloys will work too, though centre caps are different (groove for jaw shifted). Maybe even 2nd alloys?
