not sure whats going on i'm not getting any codes related to the hybird battery but it drains rapidly to one bar on display once i start the car. bought the car it had from end damage replaced everything that needed replaced and then the rapid discharge of the battery happens. i was told the hybird battery is only a few months old. i fixed all the parts that the codes sold and got most the codes fix only a 02 sensor code left because there is no cat on the car and a code saying the throttle is stuck open when i checked the throttle while the cars on its closed not sure why i'm getting the code. i'm to the point of cutting my loses and reselling it because i don't have one to two grand to put out for a hybird battery if that is my issue. doesn't anyone have any ideas?
Sounds like a hack job of a used/rebuilt hv battery, best to pop it open and look at the serials to see what you're actually dealing with. You might consider a DIY grid charger setup, and use that to cycle the HV battery a few times. You can get cheap catalytics for like $140 or less.
i know about the cats prices thanks ill give your idea a try is there diy grid charge setup tutorials? because i never heard of them but i have a 6volt and 12volt battery charger

Prius engines don't idle. In PARK or D the engine will only stay on if the hybrid battery is very very low charge or the car is cold. So you do not see any arrows on the mfd indicating charge activity? Arrows going from engine to battery? If the battery is bad to the point of no charging possibility the dash will instantly be lit up and show a bright red triangle and a little car icon in the top left corner of the mfd. If you do not have that its just the hybrid battery is really really low. Force charge the battery: Put the car in ready then put the car in D then put your left foot on the brake and then with your right foot press on the gas just hard enough to start the engine. Just sit there like that till you see charging arrows on the mfd. Do this power braking till you see at least one blue bar on the battery indicator. I did this for months when my hybrid battery started to fail. If you do see the big red triangle master caution alarm on the dash the RTOD Red Triangle of Death then the hybrid battery has most likely failed and will need some help. It may be the battery has just sat for a long time and very low.
i do see arrows i let car sit to try charge it i even tried to drive to charge it but it barely moves. they stay for what seems until i put car is drive then i get 3 symbols. a battery symbol with a ! in the middle a triangle with ! in the middle that says problem but never indicates what the problem is and a battery symbol with + and -. I have the red triangle with ! in middle and the little car icon showed maybe 4 times within the 2 weeks i been working on giving the car its life back. maybe its the battery sat to long the guy i got it from said after he replaced the battery he hit the dear the same day and it sat for like three months. and if you mean the greyish blue batter strength looking bar on display i have one bar. i also noticed when its like 60 degrees outside it shows 4 bars then when i start it the bars go down really fast to one bar like maybe in five minutes or less
how is the 12v health? is there movement in the inverter fluid reservoir? does the batteryicon stay at one bar when driving, or what is its behavior like?
yes battery stays at one bar. the inverter makes noise like its running and with the cap off on the fluid reservoir fluid moves not sure how its suppose to more but it looks like its cycles the fluid. can't drive at one bar will be lucky if i can move a few feet in ether drive or reverse like there's not enough power
Yup sounds like a bad hybrid battery. You have the RTOD and the car icon. Covid has killed a lot of old G2 hybrid battery’s you cannot let that old battery just sit. They die. They corrode. Hundreds and hundreds of posts about bad G2 hybrid battery on this site. You say you have one blue bar you can drive on that no problem the issue is once the car throws the RTOD it’s very unhappy and the car then goes into limp mode and has no power. Since you have one blue bar the battery probably has a ground fault from leaking electrolyte. very common. Battery is a corroded mess. This can be tested by disconnecting the 12 volt battery let it sit a minute connect it back up see if it clears the RTOD . It should clear the RTOD and you may be able to drive it a short distance but don’t go far as the RTOD and limp mode will come right back on. Your battery is done. Alftoy gave you all the links you need. Good luck.
there was corrosion on the point but they wasn't bad but i cleaned the anyways it was light corrosion
what i don't understand though is after i replaced the radiator and the broken wire connecters it was charging just fine but once i put headlights on and factory radio in and turned car on to check make sure they was working it was no longer charging
oh ok yeah i had a friend come over with a laptop that had a software made for Prius idk if it was tech stream but it gave me all the codes i needed to fix even codes i couldn't get on my obd2 and i fixed them he even checked
