the chain stores you mentioned could care less about your opinion (or mine) about the subject... but guess who cares even less ? that's right, the out of country call center you're about to try to call and complain to.

corporate America will say anything to get your dollars flowing their way. if putting out feel-good propaganda changes your shopping habits, guess how fast they'll cater to your fears ?

the flip flop recommendations changed again ?

    first:
just wear a diaper for two weeks
    then:
if you get the shot you're golden, never worry again
    then:
you really need to wear two diapers, but only for two weeks
    then:
if you're boostered x3 you don't have to worry anymore, trust science
    then:
you can't go ANYWHERE anymore, boostereded or not, triple diapered or not, stay home forever, new normal, etc , we're in triple lockdown to flatten the curve mode now!

yesterday I turned on national propaganda radio for some hilarious entertainment.

"states are debating where to spend their rona bucks, and arguing about if it needs to go to schools (immediate waste) for PPE or to 'in FRA structure' first, then trickle down to equity in high speed in ter nets"

i lold so hard... they're actually ADMITTING ON THE RADIO that they don't need the money, but still have to spend it SOMEWHERE or it might go poof.

nah, this isn't a money grab, it's for your safety. it's all about SAFETY, not billions of dollars being pocketed.

Apparently stores in different states handle things differently. I would guess Maybe 1% wear masks in our local Costco. Heck, I'm not promoting this, but a new local bank opened a few blocks away giving away free food and booze & community advertising that fact. You can imagine how crowded it was, basically not able to cross the room without great effort. No masks. Quite surreal.

I cannot remember the last time I put a mask on but it was almost certainly before CHRISTmas.
I would put a “22 mask-free day” sign in my office and increment daily, but then some chucklehead at work would play the ‘offended’ card.

I carry one in my back pocket for the same reason I used to carry a condom when I was single….for those rare times when it might be called upon to protect somebody else.

….of course, unlike cloth masks….there’s real science behind condoms! ;)

Well I have some personal statistics to share:

My wife got sick when we arrived at Bass Lake, CA for vacation. I was really worried. I could clearly tell sleeping on the same bed...

A few days later we need to be tested for a school trip we were to chaperone.

I tested Friday and although she asked for exemption, she decided to get tested, Friday night (BINAX, She was +).

Of all 6 people on the trip/in the household, she's the only one. It took a significant time to fully recover. Usually when she gets sick it's gone within a day. I would say this time longer than a week.

    We're all vaccinated:

Wife (first line health care worker, aka primary care physician), my parents, our son: Pfizer (2) plus Pfizer booster

Me: Moderna (2) plus Moderna booster

    Sister-in-law: 2 Sinovax, 2 Moderna

There are different tests, antigen and PCR. Once she recovered and antigen test -, she was allowed to go back to work......

Wild but I go out the most in the household, and she is the most cautious. We slept in the same bed until she tested +.

1st assumption is she caught it from work. But I honestly suspect she was infected during the trip at Bass Lake, based on watching the rapid antigen test result light up about 9 mins of 15 (BINAX) and very faint the first test, then 2 days later it lit up (clearly pink) within first few minutes and strong. I suspect the infection was progressing...

MAYBE what we were taught in school that mRNA is fragile was accurate? (Who knows how strong the COVID capsid is....) Maybe me being less clean/sanitary gave COVID a difficult time surviving. For example I'll reuse a mask until it gets worn. Her, maybe she made a clean environment for it to survive. Anytime working with DNA/RNA in a lab one must make sure to be ultra clean lest you destroy it...

Even my saliva (PCR) test came back -, the first test I took Friday, which means I haven't been infected, not just asymptomatic. (I was requested to take it within 72 hrs of the field trip, but the result would not be given in time). So I took a BINAX test same time as her 2nd test on Sunday. (To clarify her Friday test was real faint pink, but read as +, Sunday test was quick and strong +). During her first test it was kind of funny, she was waiting in front of it for the first several minutes and maybe at 7 minutes got up proclaiming herself -. Then at maybe 9 minutes my sister-in-law was looking at it and said she saw a very very faint pink on the sample area/line. At 15 mins she pulls out the instructions and unfortunately it meant she was +....

fwiw ~ the nurse practioner/PA told us there are tons of false positives, while false negatives are much rarer.

Thanks. This is crazy. She was sick for a long time, relatively, even fully vaxxed. I guess she felt ill enough to take the test in the first place. I didn't want a nose swab (potentially painful) test, so I asked for a saliva test by not mentioning it was for travel. Since I got an exemption she directly asked if she can not be tested because she was fully vaxxed and boosted. She was granted the exemption as there weren't many chaperones.

I wish someone (really smart) would work on making yet another vaccine. Such really good vaccine would make it unequivocal that everyone should get vaccinated. This would, I suspect, finally solve this problem...

There are lots of people working on lots of vaccines. For example, from a year ago:

"As of December 2020, there are over 200 vaccine candidates for COVID-19 being developed. Of these, at least 52 candidate vaccines are in human trials."

    and

There are four types of COVID-19 vaccines: here’s how they work | Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance

This morning 20 F and 10 mph … mask was more comfortable than unmasked.

there's a new vaccine from texas. already being given in india. not sure where the fda stands on it.

unlikely that it's 100% effective and that's a tall order with the changing nature of coronaviruses

how low will they let the stock go before the next revision is released ?

there's going to be some SERIOUS profit to be made with the next release and big media scare.

do these require signing a waiver of right to sue like the others did ?

remember when the first batch was promised to be 96% effective ?
when the first batch meant you could travel again ?
you could ditch the face diapers ?
you could see Grandma and go to concerts ?

I betcha a dollar they promise the same garbage all over again, and people fall for it, again.
