I checked a few - shipping was as much $ as the filter...

Yes and no. It's only in the "special" maintenance provisos, which is odd I think. Seems like they didn't quite know what to do with it:

    upload_2019-4-15_17-4-25.png

I went through, searching for the word "filter" till about 60K miles, and so far, without fail, it's only low speed or idling police, taxis and pizza deliverers that need check it...

I just purchased part number G92DH47070 from the dealer for $12.30. For my 2017 Prius.

The Gen 4 traction battery air filter is Toyota part G92DH-47070. Seems only available from Toyota dealers. O'Reilly Automotive doesn't carry it.

The "new" look of that filter is weird, tbh...
When I checked my filter I was scared at how it looked - I thought it was white originally! :D:rolleyes:

But I do think it is weird that Toyota does not have a maintenance procedure for this filter, check every X years/miles, replace every XY... It just sounds strange to me, given what it protects... :cautious:

There IS a maintenance schedule interval, for both cabin and engine filters.

^^^ yes, I meant the lack of prescribed maintenance for the HV battery filter.

78k miles on my Gen4. New filter $13.50 out the door at dealership. 2 minute changeout, feels good to know it’s done.

Check with your local Toyota parts counter....many (like mine) will match or at least come down greatly on the price if you show them a better price from a website. My Mazda parts counter does the same...believe it or not, but Mazda OEM prices are extra-crazy compared to Toyota's crazy prices!!

There's an assumption there, that the dealership parts department price WILL be higher initially? I've found they're often neck-and-neck, or better than online. Or not. But it doesn't hurt to give them a quick call.
