Hi all, The problem started with 10a fuses popping on the interior lighting circuit. Just had my 2012 Prius in to an auto electrician and this (the photos) was identified as the probable cause. The AE says it looks like a diode pack, but has no idea what it’s purpose is. He has removed and bridged it and its absence has not thrown up any other issues. Anybody know what this was for? Many Thanks in Advance.
if the guy thinks it's a diode pack, why would he just bridge it? might not be the best thing having the current flow in the wrong direction /
From the “10962” marked on the housing (Toyota part number 90980-10962) and the yellow and violet colors of the wires, the Electrical Wiring Diagram (more info) shows it’s connector L91, Diode (Front Courtesy Light LH), part of the door courtesy light circuit. This isolation diode is in the circuit because it’s also wired to the FLCY (front door courtesy light switch LH input) terminal of the main body ECU. I’d suggest replacing it, for which you’d also need two repair wires (pre-terminated pigtails), 82998-12340; two splice sleeves, 82999-52020; and two heat-shrink sleeves, 82999-30010.
