    Hey guys!

Hoping to get a discussion going on this little gem:

It's a BEV. It's really stripped and spare. It's €12,500 to French residents.

Looks to me like a great way to get a bunch of people to switch to electric cars.

Can I get one for US$14185.62 minus the $7500 tax credit? If so, yeah, I will buy one. All I need is a 150miles EV range like the Leaf.

I'm pretty sure the listed €12,500 is the net after the French government's own subsidy. Additionally, I don't see how else the price would be so low.

Now if you can get two countries to subsidize your next EV, I need to step out of the way and watch and take notes.

I read a little more on the Dacia. Seems like a useful little car for short trips and low speeds. While technically legal on interstates, nobody at all would ever enjoy it. That said, I'd still want one. I could use it for all the local shopping and errands. There are a bunch of schools within easy range. Heck, there are hardly any interstate miles to be driven in my county.

A car like that could absorb about 7,000 miles a year for us and rarely exceed 45mph and it would have us 100% covered for school & shopping duty, charged entirely by existing wall plugs at home only.

I can't imagine that car coming to the US, but I'd sure like to see someone who is in the US market take a swing at that same target.

Yes, as long as we keep two cars, I can live with one small short-range BEV and one large long-range PHEV SUV or Minivan. What I currently have is one long-range mid-size PHEV (PriusPrime) and one large long-range HV SUV (Pathfinder Hybrid). My preference would be to replace the PathHy first, but there just aren't many replacement candidates for this category. Plus, my budget for a car purchase makes it basically impossible to find one. This leads me to look for a replacement for PP. A small BEV with short-range at or below $20K final price tag.

Darn it! I have seen some very cheaply made BEV in magazines. I think for China or India markets. I know they are not coming to the US, just like Japanese Kei never made it here. I am really contemplating on LEAF S base model. Currently, with a $7500 tax credit, it is the only BEV I can get below $20K. I don't mind short EV range, but finding a stripped version of LEAF S base model in my area proved to be very difficult. If I have to go with LEAF SV or LEAF S+, then the price tag is above $20K, meaning it will cost more to buy and operate than PP for a smaller less utility car.

We had them five years ago called ‘compliance’ EV cars.

Kinda hard to be a compliance car when sold nationwide.
The Kandis might be worth looking at.

Kind of reminds me of the Bolt and Prius C a bit.

As a lover of small cars, I'm still a bit ticked they discontinued the Prius C in the USA...just when new model was getting very interesting.

With that said...I really like the Ford Maverick. Looks like a prime candidate to replace the Prius V.
