That's insane I buy them for $500 to $700 bucks from the salvage place 2500 bucks needing a cat and then the other prerequisite maintenance that's going to come at 200,000 or this car is at 94,000 so you might be okay but generally speaking cars of this year are going to be in the 200,000 range so this is an extremely one of pretty rare type of affair

    $2500 for a mint Cali 90k mile gen 2.

Hate to break it to you. But in this market, where Priuses have skyrocketed in value (in case you didn't know). This is an $8000 car.

Minus $2000 worth of OEM exhaust parts that would be $200 installed in any other state........AND the risk of ANOTHER $2000 "incident."

Yeah for a 90,000 mi mint car stored in a garage and owned by reasonable human beings That's the hard part I see plenty of them trying to get this money but as soon as I look at the pictures of them I can see why they're not going to get it they're very few $8,000 Gen 2's out there very few Not saying people will not pay that for ones that aren't worthy of it because they just don't know any better and that makes it worse for people that are seeking these out most people aren't really looking for them anyway they'd much rather have a Gen 3 or 4 you know a car loan

You got to keep in mind an '05 '06 you're talking to 20-year-old car still no matter and still 20 years old so if you pay even $6,000 for it and then after turn around and put a battery in it say in 9 months 10 months because of the corrosion or whatever and any other other things that could go wrong you'll have yourself a nice car but I don't know if I would consider myself ahead of the game You're driving a 20-year-old car and most people aren't looking to do that

I dont know about you but I would not pay 8 grand for a 16 year old car without a catalytic converter at just under 100k miles!

Obviously I don't mean with the cat missing.

This used to be a $5000 car (fixed) but prices have skyrocketed in the last year. Now dealers will ask $8500 for it.

Carvana posts low mileage gen 3s (year 2010 / 2011) for $18,000 lol. And they actually sell them. I watch the dealers auctions daily and they are bidding Priuses up through the roof. 8k and up for a gen 3 with under 150k miles.

Over 5k for gen 2s that are clean.

That is insane. I bought my pristine 06 with 63k miles for 5500 last year. Glad the seller did not hold on to it for another 6 months

Carvana dealer-only "wholesale" listed a 45k mile gen 2 with dash lit up like christmas tree. Ok condition with cloth interior.

They listed it starting bid 7500 and it went for 10.6k before $800 in fees/shipping. I sometimes will screenshot when I see funny things like this.

On the 17th I got a blue Prius C with 115k miles, says check hybrid on dash, for $3500.

On the 18th (different auction) same color, 126k miles, went for $9500. So I guess I got a "great deal" (I don't like the C model they are really junk imo).

I don't know how they can sell them but I think it's because they are financing.

Just goes to show you the power of silly stupid people back in my day some of these cars would have been 1500 at best. Then they get home and realize nothing . These kinds are kinda brain dead. Y'all out west and competing with real crash dummies. Out here in NC a 75K C might bring 3500 if clean .. whistle.. it mite advertise for 6400. But will sit and reductions will follow big ones.

It's times like this I jump back on the most beautiful thing on two wheels. 2003 Aprilia Scarabeo S 500 fully bagged . 70 mpg laugh at traffic out west. Tags and insurance almost no cost. And Fun. Almost no maintenance. No kidding

No it just gets extremely good mileage like the Toyota and I already own it and so when things get silly with the cars gets out of hand with money people whatever I just jump on that and pretty much carry everything I want on it and it's always great run service calls right off of it no problem

All of the new ones are reposts from last month, didnt sell.
Gas price falling daily, to help dems in elections, Rhodium is falling daily, (covid closed the mining operations, they are open now) as they go down so does the offer price
used car high prices generally due to new car chip shortage, thats over as well

It won't be that loud with the cat off I drove mine 20 miles to the shop and drove it around a few days before I got it to the shop with the new cheap cat to even be able to install it sounded not as loud as a loud motorcycle for God's sakes wasn't bad at all didn't make a humongous difference in the car either still drove well and all that I would think nothing of it I mean seriously as California that weird people are afraid to drive a car with the muffler or a piece of pipe missing a few miles because they're worried about what someone might think might see Man that is truly weird here in North Carolina you wouldn't get a second look with open pipes on a Corolla and dual exhaust making a racket with the typical Asian high mount spoiler and every personalization item you can stick on the car they're all over here and I know they're in East LA so this must be upwardly mobile folks kind of trend or something this is not normal for regular people I'm sure. My brother thinks the same way though He's up there in thousand oaks of course he's a millionaire and would never drive anything that wasn't absolutely spot-on. Where is myself I'll jump in the tank without an exhaust and drive it home till I get around to put me exhaust on it No one's going to do anything or say squat

well, mine was loud as hell, we ran it up and down the driveway, sounds like a cessna on takeoff, neighbors liked it, our driveway is 1/10 mile long so we could hit some mph and decibels, no way you could drive it around town like that, nor should you, no back pressure and increased heat on exhaust valve

they unbolted from the header and cut behind the resonator on mine

They did the same on mine in Northern Virginia. The Toyota dealer wants $3800 and still waiting on insurance to approve. I have a $500 deductible though. Almost 10 days without the car.
