Hey all! So I picked up an ‘04 recently. She needs a lot of TLC, but with a dead straight body and no rust I think she’s a good candidate for refurbishment. Anyway, the drivers side arm rest is collapsed. The inside of the plastic has these perforations for some reason, and they have broken. So I cut out a piece of fiberboard to the shape of the area involved being sure to cut out around the raised thick area around the finger cup. Next a generous coat of two part epoxy and some clamps. See the pictures below. I’ll let you all know how it turns out.
Good job man looks like that'll hold up I don't know what you're covering it with but claws fake leather tough tex something. I have an '05 that needs the same thing and I think the same thing happened to the '09 SM-A715F ?
It's actually spelled: Duct Tape And if you aren't working on an HVAC system you aren't using it correctly.
Duck is a brand of duct tape that's actually not so good. Shurtape is quite a bit better then they're types of duct tape I've about 5 here metalfoil cloth back etc SM-A715F ?
Ok enough with the tape of ducks…. Anyway it worked great, and I think I will get one of those “leather” replacement covers too.
Ironically, duct tape shouldn't be used on ducts. It breaks down from exposure to heat. There's a foil-backed tape that looks like a shinier duct tape that is actually supposed to be used on ventilation ducts.
Yeah it is funny, the last place you want to use duct tape, is ducts. I pretty much LIVED in our crawl space for a month or two, refurbing the H/V ductwork, lived this stuff, lol. Found some real nightmares: construction debris purposely dropped down ducts, Escher-design return air routing. gaping holes. So much fun.
