I now have a well maintained 2012 Prius c with 116k miles. I'm wondering about this Prius V that has 2 previous owners and seems to have a clean CARFAX. They're asking $7700 for it. I only drive about 4k miles a year. I'd love a bigger car. What do you have to say about this? My Prius C may be small but it's a sweet little car.
What happened, did you forget which planet you're on? Wow, I get the feeling you spend a lot of time here. How dare I stir up the resident time killer?
Doesn't it seem politically correct to trade your car in for a car with 100k more miles? If there's anywhere to find politically correct people it's at a Prius forum.
Since Prii seem to be ticking HG time bombs, trading in for one that's got a shorter fuse (relatively) remaining is not gonna be recommended, at least by any good intending poster.... REVVL V+ 5G ?
I'm not an avid poster on this forum as some of you seem to be. "Ticking HG time bomb"? "Shorter fuse"? Does it have something to do with mercury being released? Please advise me on this.
That's been known to happen... No, just got confused, by the 116K miles and 216K, was thinking it was the same vehicle, maybe a typo.
Here's one such instance: encouraging news with radical approach - blown headgasket | PriusChat I apologize I don't remember which generation it is. REVVL V+ 5G ?
I thought everybody would want to trade in their car for a car with 100,000 more miles on it? Just kidding.
I get the point. I should leave well enough alone. Sometimes I need to find other ways to burn off my extra energy. I have a car that runs perfect and doesn't burn a drop of oil. I know what I've got. Two years ago I took a chance with it and it worked out in my favor. To trade it would be another gamble, one I might not do as well with.
The reason why I thought you were referring to mercury is because you abbreviated head gasket as "HG". The technical term for mercury the heavy metal is Hg. I'm not very familiar with the Prius V or the full size Prius sedan. I guess when you find a good well maintained Toyota, you run it forever.
I had my 2003 Nissan Sentra XE for over 10 years, from 2007 to 2017 which was the longest I've ever owned a car. I felt bad after I parted with it too. It only had 90k miles on it when I traded it in for another car. It was in amazing condition when I traded it. It was white, a 5 speed with manual windows.
I would feel a pang, when driving away in new car, seeing our old reliable sitting on the dealership lot, all forlorn.
@Lukey51 Haha. I was scratching my head at the mercury remark! What a difference the small g makes, which I would immediately know what you were talking about. REVVL V+ 5G ?
It really upset me for a while. I was trying to buy it back and pay the dealer about $2000 more for it that what they gave me for it but the car sold and I haven't seen it since. Trading in cars shouldn't happen unless there is a real need to. Boredom isn't a good enough reason. But, the car was 14 years old then and the older the car you drive, the more chance you have of it breaking down somewhere and having to get it towed to a place that likely won't have time to work on it for at least a few days.
So which models of Prius are supposed to be "ticking HG time bombs"? There are no leaks in mine that I'm aware of and in 2 years I've had zero problems with my Prius C2. I flushed the 2 part cooling system in 2020 which is good for at least 5 years.
