Can a 510057 MFD play MP3 discs at all?

I recently bought a 2 CD set of "War: Greatest Hits 2.0". I decided it was time to learn about ripping all my CDs. I know that a large USB thumb drive would work, but I didn't have any handy. I do have a lot of blank CD-R Media, so I began there.

I have tried several programs, including Windows Media Player to rip CDs, and burn Mp3 CDs. None of them are recognized by the CD player in the MFD.

Question: Can the Gen 3 MFDs play anything other than Standard Audio CDs?

I would think so since the earler gen3 players have the capability.

The chapter in the manual for my 2017 is organized differently (which I assume applies to the 2016 eBay unit I installed in my 2013). It mentions MP3 and WMA formats, but it isn't clear if that is for USB thumb drives / iPods only, or if it includes CD ROM discs..

It does mention that the "Check Disk" error I am seeing means the disc is not recognized (possibly dirt or scratches). The disks work the same on the 510057 in my 2013, and the 51015x in my 2017 Prius v. It could be something about compatibility of the CD-R disks I am using.

Note "Check Disk" error I am seeing (on both the 2013 and the 2017) is the same error you would see if you put the CD in upside down. Audio CDs play fine in both cars.

    PROBLEM RESOLVED:

The discs I was using are DVD-R blanks, not CD-R blanks. I bought the bulk package of 40+ blanks at a thrift store for $3, so I assumed they were CD blanks. That explains why they play in my home DVD player, and my PC just fine.

Re-burned my disk of 5 albums of RL-Burnside onto a CD-R, and the disk plays great!
