Happily it bypasses the typical sales critters: (1) ignorant; (2) try to bait-and-switch, and; (3) 'talk to manager' game wasting time.

Nothing better than having it both ways. Boasting about tons of chargers around the home area .... yet boasting you won't be using' em because you'll be charging at home to avoid their highway robbery prices.

I also posted about the 13 new CCS chargers going in in south east New Mexico, where there are zero superchargers and none planned

Geee - I wonder if that's because the Texas / Southeast New Mexico border is only a handful of miles away from Pecos - El Paso and Thorntonville Texas..... I suppose they COULD have put them on the other side of the Border where there is very little going on in the way of hotels, restaurants Etc compared to the more populated areas in Texas. Still, full faith and credit - attempting to diminish Tesla.
It's still great there will eventually be 13 CCS - stalls. Not nearly as many as the (only) 3 locations near the texas/NM border for Tesla (of which there are others) - & once you actually count individual Tesla stalls at locations ? Yeah CCS still has a long ways to go, once CCS ever does get them in. But again, good on them. Hope they are running more frequently than the units we've had to stop at.

You really don't know anything about anything, you know that?

That area is home to Roswell (which, despite its reputation has some cool stuff in it) the Carlsbad Caverns, Lincoln National Forest, Holloman AFB and White Sands National Park, among other places.

There are 3 Kia dealers within easy driving distance. And none I'd wager with any sort of trained staff which was my criteria. I've ordered without ever setting foot in the dealership, talking to a salesperson or sales manager. Or taking a test drive. Just RTM and reviews. So that in person sales experience is not a desire. Even my Toyota has had 3 service campaigns and I do like that my dealer is 3 miles away. None could have been be OTAed.

Teslas service center is on the other side of Raleigh from me so at least an hour away. I see more than a few Teslas in my community and have seen even more in the Raleigh or Pinehurst areas. But I've decided a 18 month wait for a car priced like the Y with controls like the Y is not for me. Glad others like it.

someone saying, "you really don't know anything about anything" .... then asking such a person, "you know that?
    That made folks smile.

Exactly! I've been watching Ford Maverick dealership reports...and wow, there are some shady dealerships out there. There are the usual 'dealer markup' reports, of course. However, a few shady dealerships are doing bait and switch maneuvers *even though* the vehicle was ordered through a dealer at a supposedly set price. I'm assuming there was technically some buyer error as well ( i.e. - not getting a signed purchase agreement )...but it seems like that should be standard procedure *before* the dealership orders the vehicle.

As for the EV6, sounds good to me. Competition is good...I think Hyundai/Kia are closer to competing with Tesla than nearly everyone else at this point. And yes, I see the Tesla police showed up here...as expected...haha.

    Compete can mean many things.
I think VW is the only manufacturer with EV production capacity near that of Tesla at this time.

Only GM sold enough EVs to exhaust the current tax credit. But the Bolt battery fires evaporated any profits because the recall replaces all of the battery packs. Looking at the performance specs and costs, the VW EVs are no bargain. Worse, VW claims Tesla takes about 1/3d the time to build per EV. Furthermore, Sandy Munro points out that Tesla adds changes at essentially 'the speed of thought.'

The Tesla 'moat' is absence of legacy design rules and production methodologies. So Tesla is free to innovate rapidly and maximize product quality and quantity. They are on track to achieve a 50% growth every year with in-house innovation that the traditional car makers can only wonder about. For example, wrapping the Model S Plaid rotor with a carbon fiber sleeve to increase rpm. You don't find that type of motor in supplier parts catalogs.

In 2000, I had my hands on a 300kW PM motor about the size of a 1 gallon paint can. It ran at 18,000 RPM and the rotor was wrapped in carbon fiber.

I found a SCHUNK YouTube video and three other companies claiming to have such motors. So a 2000 timeline would be consistent with waiting for a patent to expire. Or Tesla secured a patent right and made their own wrapper. Tesla bought Maxwell for their dry electrolyte technology and using it in their 4680 cells.

We’ve seen plenty of times patent sitting inhibits a technology. Even Toyota lost a patent suit and had to pay the patent sitter for the computer controlled, power split transmission. Regardless, who other than Tesla is selling a carbon fiber wrapped motor in an EV?

Bob the tesla innovation was in manufacturing and engineering not in any new motor technology concept. Musk stated that as far as he knew it was the first production motor using the tech. To make quality control and manufacturing costs reasonable they used their automation arm (a company they had bought) to get the process down and wrap the windings under pressure. I'll bet anyone else that wants to build these motors for other purposes, will buy automation from tesla. I doubt patents had anything to do with it. Tesla's strength is not in inventing the wheel, but in getting innovations in real cars to market quickly, then improving them.
Ultimate Car of the Year Finalist: 2013 Tesla Model S

This tech does not matter to a high volume car like the model 3/Y or hopefuls like the EV6. What it enabled is lower cost for the plaid acceleration to high speeds while retaining single speed transmission. The plaid's yoke as well as the bz4x's were first demoed by mercury in a car in the 1960s. This also won't make a difference for a volume car. If they get the rest of the roadster right, then these technologies will help tesla really sell against much more expensive super cars. Many of those makes are already developing PHEVs to compete.

It must be an accounting thing.
A Canadian dollar just isn't worth as much. :)
If you apply the Can $ to USD conversion rate, then 72kw becomes about 50kw. :)
