Anyone else experiencing paint wear on their charge port cover? I see a bit of fading on my Hypersonic Red car where I normally press to open the charge port. It's not obvious unless you see it at an angle (which is why I only saw it today whilst I was pumping up the rear tyres and looked up right as the light was shining on the rear quarter panel of the car).
Nope no fancy touch plate. However the door is plastic itself I think. You really have fading or would a hand wax job take care of it? Color fading or clearcoat? I use my two knuckles to push, I figure less oils from fingers to mar up the door.
Same here. And I tend to push in different places. No wear that I've noticed after 57k miles. But the original owner (22k miles) seemed to have only charged once or twice.
I keep a microfiber cloth next to my charging station and use that to open the charging port door. I think skin oil is not good for the painted door cover for repeated charging.
Maybe good place for a protective film, like they use around rear doors sills. Never quite sure why they do the latter btw.
Nope. No plastic part like the PiP. I think it’s the clear coat. I haven’t waxed the car in a year. Good idea on the knuckles. Yeah I charge often. Obviously daily in the morning but I will opportunity charge throughout the day as there are many free chargers here. Good idea. I have a microfibre cloth that I use to clean the interior or dust the dash. I’ll use that to open the charge port too. Another good idea. (Love the 3 solutions in this thread!) is it not for rock chips?
I saw an aftermarket charge port or gas door cover. It looked tacky... at least to me. But if you like that "looks" yeah that will protect and beautify at the same time.
