Hi - I drive a 2018 Prius touring four - needs new tires, help! Drive 80miles, 5x a week. Not going to the dealership they offered me 4 tires for $1000 and the ones they recommended I'm not sure I want. Anyone suggest good tires for driving a lot of miles a week. I live where it rains a lot. Thank you for any help.

My favorite Prius tires are Nokian WRg4. They will last 60k miles, are strong tires (H-Rated) have a low rolling resistance, and good in wet/snow. I get them locally for about $500 a set.

I think Pirelli P4s are the treadlife warranty leader presently.

I had Michelin Harmony on a 06 civic that lasted over the 90k warranty. I replace the Primes OE Toyos with Defenders, but I've already lost 3/32s of tread in 15k miles, so I'm not expecting to get 90k miles from them.
But the Defenders offer quite a bit better handling and grip than the Toyo s. But to get that better grip on the road the tire sacrifices a tiny bit of MPG's with a higher rolling resistance.

If the rain is really bad the Defender LTX 205 65R 15 for Light Truck and SUV has wider treads and 50lbs inflation limit and 99 T weight and speed rating and has 1/2 inch larger diameter and is a smedge wider than the defender T H 195 65R 15 with 44lb inflation limit.

I think I'll be trying out the Pirelli P4 next time.

Not sure if you get much snow but we replaced the Toyo OEM tires on my wife's 2017 Prius with General Altimax RT43's. They have a 65,000 mile warranty and with road hazard and free rotations ran me $479....WAY cheaper than what you were quoted! Give them a try...they also give military discounts if you are a Vet.

I "think" OP's got 215/45R17, and IIRC Defenders don't come in that size. Would help if @Prius2018SH clarified.

Yes, my tire size is P215/45R17. I was just recommend the Michelin Climate Control at Costco. They are having a deal on Michelin, but not sure if those are good tires. Thanks!

You are correct. Costco's website doesn't list the Defender in the 17 inch size.
Maybe try the new Cross Climate 2?

I went with Primacy MXM4 (in 215/45R17). They've been good, but there was a significant dip in mpg right after install. It's come back more-or-less now. Previously (the one the car came with) it had Michelin PIlot hx MXM4.

I bought the Bridgestone Turanza Quiettracks at Costco for mine, but now think I would have liked the Michelins more. I bought the Turanzas for the open side sipes since we get torrential tropical rains, and for that they've been great. I can't quite call them quiet on the local roads though.

I run a Hankook Kinergy GT and I drive 110 miles a day 5-6 days a week. They get the same mpg as my stock tires, around 54 and they seem to be wearing good and are quiet. $65 each for 15s and ~$130 EACH FOR 215/45R17 (TOURING tire size) I have some brz 17s I'm planning to run so last time I priced the 215/45R17 Hankook it was 128

I just bought a set of Continental TrueContact. So far so good, the gas mileage dropped from 57 to 55 MPG.

Good tires. Your MPG should improve in a few thousand miles.

These tires roll about 831 revs/mile (for new 195/65R15 size). Check the revs/mile for your original tire as that affects the calibration of the odometer/speedometer. Note that as a tire wears the revs/mile increases and the apparent MPG increases.

I put Hankooks on my truck. They needed balanced every 4k miles or so. Was not entirely impressed.

Review (the Cross-Climates) when you've got a chance?

I'm in the separate-snow-tires camp, but lots want a one-set-solution. Interesting tire; tread pattern very distinct.
