i'm not a video guy, i like reading. generally speaking, i find most videos waste too much time, whereas data and storyline can be more concise. or i can at least skim for hidden gems.

 

I watched the video... but still didn't get the answer to the question. Must have been looking away when it showed at the very end?

Bottom line - once you know what range is during the very worst conditions, then everything else is downhill.

So yea somewhere between 127miles driving fast in cold, slushy, rainy conditions versus - 278 miles flatland warm driving at reasonable speeds.

Thanks. Yes, the worst condition is what I should really look at. We have 5 months of cold winter. Well, with that kind of range, I am not going to be able to take the car for a long trip. 127miles on the interstate will not take me out of my state, and I know as a fact that there is no charge station every 127miles on the interstate I often drive.

127 miles won't cut it for me, and the delta to 450 miles in the video is just confusing

 

my problem is that i don't compare all these bev's to each other, i compare them to our current 2013 hycam, so vastly superior to any bev on the market in range and winter performance, i just can't get myself to make a quantum leap backwards.

 

Where are those chargers located in the US? I don't think there are any within 200 miles of where I live... but I maybe wrong. I am seeing more and more of Tesla around where I live. Last I checked, there weren't any supercharger near us either. Maybe, the infrastructure is rapidly developing???

 

That Korean route had a much lower average speed. Think of the hypermilers working to beat the EPA score (269 miles) or Euro WLTP (287 miles), which are always derated from what can be done in favorable conditions. The opposite of what the other test did, intentionally flogging it at very high speed in heavy rain with the heat pump running, getting just 127+9 miles (+2 more?) miles.

a lot of teslas around here too. but everyone i talk to only drives them locally and charge at home.

 

Well, I am seeing a lot of out-of-state Teslas. There are some locals or may not be local, but at least the car is registered here. But knowing that there is no Tesla dealer of service center in our state, they maybe a just summer time residents.

 

On the way home from North Carolina, the gas station in Virginia had Superchargers in use. The station in Maryland was having them installed.

For the majority, cars only see local use.

 

Hyundai-kia must be using heat pumps for their cabin temperatures, right? One would hope.

I don't think they are all capable of charging @Tideland Prius mentioned "240kW charging at 800V. So even if range is cut short, charging is quick. 70 miles in 5 mins or 18 mins 10-80%". Certainly those black mark are most likely all L1... maybe some L2, either would be way too slow to do any kind of road trips. Go up northern Maine where I am, you can just forget about any type of charger within 200miles.
