2010 Prius. The underbody shield below the bumper. Mine was all chewed up, and I ordered one from an auto parts company online, and it was shaped completely different than the OEM part. Anyone here order one that actually fits a 2010 Prius and from where? I haven’t tried the dealer. No telling what this would cost there.

Try THIS link (Carid). Several options there for 2010 Prius. Looks like the one you got is for just behind the front bumper.

HERE is another (center engine splash shield).

What's the best way to figure out what part numbers we should be looking for? Is there a good way to look it up online, or do we pretty much have to call a Toyota dealership and describe the part over the phone to get a compatible part number? I know sometimes they update parts, and I don't know an easy way to know which part number we should be looking for.

Be aware the aftermarket cover may not fit perfectly if your cover has the sound damping (Silencer) mats and you want to reuse the mats. If the oil change flap was ripped off like mine, you could do a modified undercover.

I ordered and put on a same part on a gen2 and it didn't match exactly with the old part, but was good enough and there's plenty of room behind that panel to simply not bother with all the clips for the screws and just use a screwdriver gun to drive some standard sheetrock screws through the plastic, which is way easier. It's not like its going to be noticable...

What are those screw going into, beyond the plastic shield?

There's lots up space up there... And your screw only needs to be long enough to connect that piece of plastic to neighboring pieces of plastic. It's actually much easier as well as cheaper than replacing the hardware.

Search for “bumper” and you will see an exploded view of all the pieces and their part numbers. You may have been sent the wrong part? I got an aftermarket part that fit fine and it was much cheaper. Not sure why the engine under cover entered this discussion! Totally different part.

It’s a poor design too (well 3rd gen): it snags on concrete wheel stops, tears as you back away.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve had ours off, slather on more 2-part epoxy and Fiberglas mesh.

Same problem with Gen2... That's where I learned to make quick repairs with screwdriver gun and screws.

I will have a full metal replacement on my car soon that incorporates the smaller front bumper part as well as the larger engine cover. I cant hardly wait!

I wonder whether there is some other solution or work around for getting an audio clue that you are as close to the wheel stop as possible. Like attaching something else that alerts an inch earlier. Sorta like curb feelers from the 1950's.

Exactly like them works, and I believe you can still get them. They are a mixed blessing though; they can pick up and start dragging road debris.
