Where do you refer the "bigger holes" to? Did you clean the EGR passage in the intake manifold?

 

Interesting..so the inside of the EGR cooler on the Prius C has bigger passages than the Gen3's do? If so...that is an important piece of info. You happen to have a picture of it?

 

Yes, as a 2011 Gen 3 hatchback owner who is currently cleaning an EGR cooler sourced off of eBay, with unknown number of miles, but totally blocked passages, I'm also very interested in seeing any pictures you might have.

You don't suppose the Prius C part could be used on a Gen 3 non-C?

 

Highly doubtful, physically, they are very different looking.

That's the one off eBay with unknown miles on it. I still haven't tackled the one on the car.

I'll take a picture of it when I get it off.

My guess is that the eBay one pictured came off a high mileage Prius that blew a head gasket. I'm hoping our EGR cooler doesn't look like that at about 125k miles on the odometer.

Here's the EGR cooler I took off the Gen 3 with 124k on the odometer. Third pic is the EGR valve, oily and sooty, wipes off easily.
