Is there a way to lock my doors and leave the Prius running?

I may set a google alert to post in a few years

 

I guess that’s what happens when you think outside the box.

 

Hate to revive this "dead thread" but yes there are instances such as when you are in "Prius hotel" camping with a dog or cat where you may need to go into the store or gym and leave the car running. I just read this thing and finally figured out what the mechanical key was for. Thanks Prius chat posters I'm one step closer to my camping trip this November.

 

The salesman did not demonstrate that before you bought the car? When my salesman tried he originally failed because he tried the key from a different Prius LOL.

 

The "salesman" was my best friend and mechanic and the Prius had a 4"x4" hole in the side of the block where the rod crashed through. I could have made 100k doing you tube videos about 2 Hillbillies trying to figure out how to change a Prius engine neither one knowing jack about Hybrids. I sure did get my education tho and would now consider myself proficient on most gen 2 systems. Those little things like how to lock the car with the fob still in the dash sort of fell through the cracks. Thanks to everyone at Prius chat I never could have done this without you.
