Hi guys, on what mileage should I change the spark plugs of my 2016 Prius? I can not find it in the service manual. I have about 45k miles so far and haven't even checked them. Thanks in advance!
I haven't replaced spark plugs since I sold my last VOLVO in 2006. Oh, wait - I've had 2 diesels in that time., but a KIA for 3yrs and the 5¼yr old PRIUS will be gone well before Plugs are due.
Memories back to my WORST car for SparkPlugs - a 1977 1.4 Renault 12TS. In 35,000km I owned it, I replaced the plugs 5 TIMES. And 3 sets of points and 2 condensers. They'd modified the engine to meet the then-new emission requirements, and it never ran as well as earlier R12s.
what Alan’s posted is an excerpt from Toyota USA’s Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. If you’re missing the paper version, you can download the PDF from Toyota Tech Info, and I believe somewhere else in Toyota web presence as well. Attachment is 4th Repair Manual excerpt, spark plug info. Socket size is 14 mm IIRC.
Yes, I heard about one transverse V6 which needed EGR removal; intake manifold, wiring harness, heater and radiator hoses to get to them. Might have been a Mazda 3.0, but not certain.
Since we have the iridium spark plugs, should be changed at 120,000 miles or 10-years...whichever comes first! So you're good! For a 2016, if you haven't gotten the CVT transmission oil changed, you'll need to next year...every 60,000 or 6-years. (The change is almost as easy as an oil change.) And, of course, use only Toyota OEM fluids and plugs (Denso plugs) and there's tons of fake Denso's being sold so, for me, I only buy them at the dealership. Oh you are at 5-years...it would be a good time to change out your coolant and hybrid coolant...which takes the same type. Here's a great video on it...super easy. Everyone in here needs to follow and watch "The Car Care Nut" on youtube...very good Master Technician for Toyota for 10-years and actually answers my questions I post.
on my gen 2, i had a burning oil issue which I found some oil on my spark plugs. I changed it at year 10. I didn't particularly see any issue except for the situation in which I had to refill oil ever couple of months.
@Mendel Leisk I'm trying to PM you, but it errors out. I'm looking for the 4th gen FSM. Would you be willing to share?
