My auto highbeam switch is not working on my 2018 Prius Prime. Is there a simple way to replace the switch or is this a dealership repair? If I hold the switch down the dashboard light comes on but it doesn’t stay on if I take pressure off the switch.

Is your headlight stalk in the "high beam" position?

I wanted to confirm this too. The auto HIGH BEAMS only comes on if the stalk in on High Beams. On regular AUTO or low beams, the auto HIGH BEAMS will not turn on by itself.

It sounds like you are pulling the turn signal lever towards you. That is the flash feature. The high beams are activated by pushing the turn signal lever towards the front of the car. Also make sure the headlight switch is on or auto.

    I understand.

What I mean is, you need your headlight stalk in the "high beam" position as well as pressing the "auto high beam" button.

The highbeam stalk is in the correct position but the auto highbeam button won’t stay on.

If I understand it correctly, the problem is the toggle switch that is located on the lower part of the dash near the door, that is not staying on?

I remember reading about someone who had this auto highbeam toggle switch that broke and needed to be replaced. It sounds like that is the case for OP. The switch is easily replaceable DIY. I have not replaced the switches but removed that part of panel with the switch to wrap that piano-black plastic. To remove the panel, use the ply tool to pull it. It will snap off, and After disconnecting the wire harness, the switch part can be removed from the panel and replaced. But I don't know the part number and cost.

I had one that would not engage and Toyota replaced it under warranty.

Then you may be the one who asked me to check if the toggle switch stays flat or indented when engaged. I remember going out to my car and checking it.

Nope, I don't think it was me Sal. Mine was very spongy feeling and no question as to its being defective. Not on my newest Prime, maybe on my 2018 (old age fogginess  ),
