I oversimplified and your correction is appropriate. Thanks!

Last weeks in Garden glove, two cat thiefs crashed into the pool and killed themselves after killing an innocent bystandard while fleeing from police officers. They deserve what they got IMHO lol

Only a matter of time! Here in Virginia and neighboring states, we're starting to see lots of reports on cat thefts from church vans & buses. Probably not worth as much as those from Gen2 Prii, but I'd guess an unattended church parking lot in the middle of the night is a lower-risk target for these thieves than a residential driveway (both from a "getting caught" and a "getting crushed" standpoint).

The CAT graveyard just keeps getting bigger. I got mine jacked last year and ever since I got the Millercat Cat Shield installed, I haven't had any issues. My neighborhood got hit a couple more times according to Next Door and every time I ran out to check and my Prius did not sound like a motor boat. Thieves really do go for easier targets. Pretty awesome product - can replace my O2 sensor with no issues, secure using their proprietary custom screws, and they also use zinc coated rivnuts to prevent corrosion. Awesome product and highly recommend.

The guy on craigslist is probably working with the team who steals them. Or not!

New Who knows. All I know is I need to get my car back on the road ASAP and he fit the bill. It’s a 3rd party cat probably boy worth less than 100 so who knows. When there’s a market there’s entrepreneurs so he fills the cheap solution category. The Prius is my beater so if it gets junked in September then so be it. Thanks California!

Ok so updating this thread. Decisions decisions.

Since I bought the fake cat, I've driven my car to San Francisco and back to LA. This car is a beast! Engine, Trans, and Battery are all performing well and the car powered through the El Cajon pass like nothing.

Anyway, I got my registration smog check and took my car in today. I officially can't pass smog. They plugged my car in (no visual inspection) and basically they said the computer is not giving any numbers whatsover when their program checks the Cat and O2 sensor. They asked me if I unplugged the battery or unplugged the computer. I lied and said I had the get the computer replaced (not telling them that my cat and 02 sensors were replaced by a cheapo cat I bought to get the car back on the road). They said to drive the car steady at 55 mph to get the computer reset. We all know that's not going to help.

So I'm at a cross road.

The car still works 100%; having to help someone move we took the Prius on an 800 mile road trip and it performed flawlessly. It's really frustration and sad to be honest. It's the worst time right now to buy a used car since cars I'm interested in to replace this car are 4k - 6k more now than they were 5 months ago. (Nissan Frontier, Subaru I'm looking at you).

One option is to buy the OEM cat, put full coverage insurance on the Prius, install barriers underneath the car, to help mitigate the treat of this car's cat from being stolen. Of course there's that fear the day I drive my car will start up like a Mac truck.

The other option is to junk it? Maybe find someone who needs a battery and have them take the battery out since my is still flawless and work (it was replaced by an OEM battery). My registration expires in September so I have two months to go.

I read on other thread that there is a new CARB approved cat by Megaflow. Have you looked into it? BTW, I just had a Miller Cat Shield installed and still plannning to construct a Cat Prevention Alarm device.

Am I missing something? Please see screen shot. It shows various Toyota models but no prius.

Ok! I am sorry I guess They have not produced the model yet. All I know is that CARB approved their(Magaflow)'s applications for Prius back in April. Maybe, send e mail to the company and ask them about a production date?
