    Hi all,

I have an gen 2 Japanese import. The MFD on it is broken and no longer works (it used to work, but displayed everything in Japanese). The problem I have is that from what I have read online, you need to replace an MFD with one that's got the same part number on. Problem is I've never ever found an available MFD with the part number on. The part number for it is 86100-47050.
My question is, what MFD (part number) can I get that will work in my car that is in English?

    Thanks everyone

I would try to get a working one from a breaker's yard of the equivalent UK new model (T3, T4, or T-Spirit) and matching whether yours has navigation or not.

That way you should get English as the language on the MFD.

There are three types of MFD depending on spec level:

    MDF with Nav.png

    MDF w:o Nav Type A.png

    MDF w:o Nav Type B.png

Thanks for the reply. I have the one with navigation system as there's a quite a few buttons on the MFD (MFD buttons are in japanese) and there's a map button on the steering wheel.
Problem is that I don't know which one to choose as a replacement because of having to match the part number. What should I do?

    Thanks

Check whether navigation was an option on the UK 2004 (that's the MY of your JDM import, correct?) and if so get an MFD from a UK 2004 T-Spirit. That should have the 7-button MFD and NAV and all the other bells and whistles. From what I can gather, the UK 2004 had navigation but not the 9 speaker JBL system. If that is correct the part number is this one.

    2004-2005 86110-47250 FUJITSU TEN,EMV(W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)-WITH(EUROPE)

In the mid-cycle facelift for EU 9 speaker JBL audio was added so I have included the part numbers for them below. I wouldn't get any of the below unless your JDM 2004 also has the JBL 9 speaker system.
    2006-2009:
    86110-47220-C0 - FUJITSU TEN,AUDIO-05AM/FM+CD-CHANGER JBL RDS 9 SPEAKER&EMV(W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)-WITH(EUROPE)
    86110-47230-C0 - FUJITSU TEN,AUDIO-05AM/FM+CD-CHANGER JBL 9 SPEAKER,BLACK,TRIM1#,4#
    - OR- - - - - - - - - - FUJITSU TEN,AUDIO-05AM/FM+CD-CHANGER JBL RDS 9 SPEAKER,BLACK,TRIM1#,4#

In any case do not get this one: 86110-47081-C0 as it is the 4 button (Type-B) unit.

Be aware that there are trim colour options on some of the 2006-2009 part numbers. and the 47230 can come with or without RDS.

It is a bit daunting and can be confusing, so I wish you well.

There is still a bit for you to research, but hopefully that give you something to go on.

It certainly does! Thank you for all of your time and effort in writing the reply.
Couple of things, what does "MY of your JDM import" mean?
I have no idea if it has 9 speaker JBL system.
    Thanks again!

    MY = model year
    JDM = Japanese domestic market.
Two tell-tale things to look for are the JBL logo on the bottom right of the radio faceplate and the JBL logo on the front door speakers. A third thing a JBL system will have is the amplifier/controller under the right front seat.

Thank you for all of your effort.
I've had a look, its not a JBL system. The year of manufacture was 2003 (early gen 2) in Japanese and was registered over here in 2007.
Does the 86110-47250 unit support the reversing camera?
Knowing all of this, is 86110-47250 the correct number still?

    Thank you

I don't know one way or the other but it would be my best guess.

If you could get a look at the back of your MFD and snap a photo of the part number that might help. It should be either 86110-47050 or 86110-47060.

It's 86110-47050. I did search for the part number you said and I couldn't find a thing. Only thing that came up was from a previous priuschat post talking about how he had a 86110-47250 and needed it replacing (but couldn't find it) and the dealership said they would use a 47070.

86110-47070 does show as the fitment for a UK Aug 2003 - Feb 2004. It is described as FUJITSU TEN, W(VSC) which does help much.

Do you think the 86110-47070 will do the job then?

If it were me yes, I'd take a punt on that one. But bear in mind it is still only my best guess with zero experience doing this.

What's the worst that could happen? It doesn't fit, you sell it on and look some more.

I believe there are shops in the UK that specialise in converting JDMs to English. You might want to try finding one of those if you're still a little uncomfortable pulling the pin.

Thanks very much. I'll try it, like you say I can always resell it. Can't have the old one converted to English as its had it lol. Thanks for everything. Oh, do you know anywhere that might sell them? Cheers

The MFD is not modified to convert it to English, it is replaced with a UK one. That's why I suggested you contact one as they might be able to advise.

I would put the request out on one of the breaker's networks like 1st Choice Spares and see who replies.
