What is the best store in terms of price and service to buy maintenance parts like air filters and genuine Toyota wiper blades? I had bought some a long time ago and was satisfied, but don't remember the name. I need new wiper blades immediately and have found that only the genuine Toyota brand works properly without squeaking but my local Toyota dealer charges a whopping $45 EACH. I've seen them for around $26 online plus shipping, but not sure which is the best store to go with.

Also, Toyota charges $230 (or something like that) for the 2020 navigation map update sd card! I saw one on Amazon for $50. Is this the same thing?

    Appreciate any recommendations.

I recently purchased both on ebay for my 3T. The map sd card was $31 shipped and the front wipers were $46 for both.

Back in the early days when dealers first started selling online at discounts, there was a lot of "this pricing strictly online only!" and the dealers would insist you pay list price if you came to the counter (even if it was the same dealer advertising a lower price online).

In more recent years, some dealers seem to be more relaxed about that; when I look at my parts receipts I see my local dealer hasn't always been charging me list for everything. The discounts might not be quite as low as some seen online, but when you figure in that the online sellers often have fairly hefty shipping rates and I don't pay that at the counter, I think it works out about even. And the local dealer is pretty convenient; they'll usually either have something in stock, or boom, it's ready to pick up the next morning (and no shipping charge).

I'm going back to the dealer because I think he made a mistake when he told me they were $44+ each. I had given him my name so assumed he had looked up my car. When I told him that I had looked on their website and thought I saw them for about $26 each, he said those were for the Sightline brand and they don't make them for my car! Well, I just looked again on the website using my VIN, and they are listed at $23.39 each (MSRP $29.99) - so I have no idea what he was talking about. I tried looking around to see if ANY of their wipers were listed for $44 but didn't see any.

Find the part number and search toyota dealerships on google that offer free shipping, lower price etc, thats what I do. I had a lot of success with olathetoyota.

Also, Are you buying the WHOLE wiper blade? Because the refills are <$10.

That's all I did. Took about 5 - 8 min to download. That was back in Feb and everything has worked fine.

Glad you found these. I ordered one last night from Amazon. Should arrive Friday. Lots of places around here don't show up on my '17 Prime's nav screen. I use a Garmin for major road trips, but the built-in nav comes in handy for local driving.

Here's the one I got. I installed it yesterday afternoon.

    So far, so not-so-good.

The map is 2019 as advertised. It shows a bunch of streets that the original did not ... when the map isn't frozen.

Sometimes I read stuff about needing to load something and sometimes it's just a matter of swapping old card for new. In my case, it was just a swap. But I also see stuff about it taking a while to stabilize. So, I'll give it a few days. Maybe the data loads slowly in the background. Tapping screen buttons for various functions often brings a very slow response and sometimes the whole thing will freeze, so it might just be busy. If I leave the thing alone and just use the climate control part, it seems to be OK in the short test drive I took.

    Time will tell.

Could be. But I'll give it a couple days. The car has only run a few minutes since I put it in. Tomorrow, we'll be taking it on a 40+ mile round trip. That should be enough to know one way or the other.

Actually, the maps look a little better ... more crisp.

Update on the navigation SD card: *** I NEED HELP ***

I just received the card that I bought from eBay for $31. I know where the SD slot is but I don't know how to get it open. When I Googled installing the card, it says with the engine off, pop open the slot. But it doesn't seem to open by just pushing in. Maybe I'm not pushing it in enough? Is everything supposed to be off? I am afraid of doing damage by doing the wrong thing.
    Please advise!

    Update on the wipers:

I called the Toyota dealer and asked how much the wipers would be and she told me $40 for both, including installation. She told me to just come and buy them from the parts department, bring them around to service and they will install them for free. This sounded too good to be true (although they had previously installed wipers I had bought online for free) but thought I'd give it a try. I printed out the page that had them listed on the Toyota website for $23.39 each because I was pretty sure I wasn't going to get them for $20.

When I got there I first went to the service department and asked if they would be able to install them, and they told me I'd have to sign in and get in line. Since I had another appointment to get to I said I'd come back in a couple of hours, and they said okay. Then when I went to the parts department and showed him the listed price, he said "but that's online only. You have to order online to get that price." I said, but you have them here, don't you? He said yes, but it's a different system! Then I told him the person who answered the phone said they cost $40 for both, he said that's the price of the discount line, which they don't have for the 2016 Prius (I checked the chart and he was right). So I sat in the waiting room and ordered them from my phone. It said it could take up to 24 hours to arrive. So I stood in line again at the service desk to cancel my appointment.

Less than an hour later I was notified that they were available for pickup. So I called back and asked whether they could fit me in to install the wipers but she told me they were full that day - so I made an appointment for the next day. But I decided I might as well pick them up and install them myself (I seem to remember it was pretty easy) so went and got them. Then I thought I might as well ask and went back to the service desk, waited forever, and asked if they could fit me in. They said, yes, but it would be $20! I said I was told on the phone it would be free, but they said no, they have to pay the technician. So I asked to speak to a manager. He came out and installed them. It took about 2 minutes. :p
