Is there any way to stop displaying the 1990s nav on the huge screen of the 2021 Prime and have Car Play/Android Auto use more of the screen. Car Play looks crammed (especially in map view - the side icons are tiny and difficult to press) and I cannot find a way to use more of the screen. Also I simply don't want to see the nav when not using car play. It is the worst thing of the Prime. (let alone the fact that updating the maps costs a LOT and that I cannot recenter the view on the car if I zoom or slide the map elsewhere.)
Just turn the screen off. I had my 11.6" screen off 99% of the time when I had 2017 PP. Did all the HVAC and Audio controls from the steering wheel buttons and MID display. As for displaying AA full screen onto the 11.6", I highly doubt there is an easy way to do it. It is a wrong aspect ratio.
I don't mind the screen being on and showing me the AC settings and what is playing on the phone. I just don't want to see the map (if I am not using Car Play.)
You can keep it on the info screen, although I think it reset to the default map display each time you turn it off. Yeah, unless Toyota changed it for 2021 models, I don't think you can selectively turn the map off. Despite the fact I did not like the Toyota App implementation and software that came with it, I did like my 2021 PP LE with a 7" display which had customizable screen sections. I could change what I wanted to display on the screen.
I need to try it again, but I think you are right. I actually preferred the 7" screen on my Gen4. At least it didn't look like something from the 90s. The nav and the overall system is pretty bad. What saves it is the ACP/AA support. I don't mind the car related info-graphics, the AC icons and settings, and display of what is playing on the audio system. But the map and overall waste of space of this very nice big screen, on a 2021 model, with low resolution map, a disgrace.
