DIY sound deadening weekend project continued... The logic is every extra bit of material should reduce vibration and/ or reduce external sounds. NOT pro, not even semi pro. So appreciate understand that this is a true DIY project. Also NO scientific measurements taken, cos I believe enjoyment cannot be measured scientifically. What I did: as advised by many internet gurus, cover some percentage of area with sound deadening material, then top up with cotton sheet to help absorb sounds. Result: as expected, a little quieter than before. Next step: the floorboards. Maybe next week. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
sorry for not updating. I did remove the seats and dis the same sound deadening on the floor (as much as I could without removing carpet out of car). I can say the car definitely sounds quieter and the stereo sounds much better. Not sure on which part made the most difference. I guess they all worked a little bit. Meanwhile, added a used BOSE spare wheel subwoofer. That really helped the sound and I am sure the sound deadening helped to reduce the resonance which would otherwise be quite bad in car like the Prius Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Not a scientific one. Just what I felt personally and from friends travelling in car. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I did the roof... Sound deadening and insulating the roof in my Toyota Prius - black_jmyntrn front doors... Upgraded JBL speakers in a 2013 Prius Plug-in - black_jmyntrn and under my rear seat platform... Rear seat replaced with a platform - black_jmyntrn The trunk is done as well, just need to do the rear doors and fenders.
I'm interested in installing on my ProHow much weight do you think this added to your Prius? Did you notice any hit on MPG?
Awesome - thanks! Slowly installing this in mine. Completed the rear, rear seat and driver's side door.
