So... I've been wanting to stick with 15" wheels to maintain a larger sidewall for comfort and to maintain good fuel economy. Also, I like to run a slightly wider tire than intended for rim protection lol.

With that being said, I picked up a set of Rays CE28N in a 15x6.5 +45. For a 6.5 width, a 195 is ideal but I went with a 215 tire with 60 sidewall to be wider yet maintain the correct speedo. I thought the CE28n would be around 8.1 lbs but after weighing it, I came up to 10 lbs 3 oz. A little bummed but they looked great and I stuck with them for a while even though my mpg took a slight hit due to the wider tire.

I was thinking for a while if I should get the CE28 Eco which is 6in width and run the 195 tire but that wheel is the same weight as the non-eco so I held off. That's when I came across the Rays Super Eco.

Specs were 15x6.0. Super light at 9lbs 2 oz and I could run a 195 tire as opposed to the 185 recommended. I could not find anyone with a gen4 running them so not sure how it would look. I only had photos from Google on the older gens and couldn't decide between Spark Silver or the darker Formula Silver. I was leaning towards the darker color but I know that with the darker color, the wheel would appear smaller. So I looked for a set in Spark Silver.

For a wheel that was more than a decade old, they pop up every once in a while and of course none in my area. But lo and behold, I found a minty mint mint set in Japan, complete with center caps. No chips, rash, rust, dents, etc. I could not believe my luck after only searching for a day or two. I placed the order and within a week, they were on my doorstep.

    So ladies and gents: 11yr old Rays Super Eco's on a gen4! 20210117_130727.jpeg 20210117_130744.jpeg 20210116_150722.jpeg 20210116_151550.jpeg 20210116_151557.jpeg 20210116_151604.jpeg

Looks great and I really like the idea of keeping the size at 15". So, at super light 9lb 2oz, they are about half of the weight of OEM wheels. Do you see immediate mpg improvement with the set? I am more curious about fuel efficiency than the looks.

I can't really comment on how they are compared the stock gen4 wheels. One week after getting my car, I swapped to gen2 wheels which are about 5lbs lighter. I was hitting 60+mpg easily in the warmer weather and this is with my car being the awd model that rates lower in mpg compared to the non-awd.

Compared the 215, ce28n Eco's, I noticed an immediate improvement. I used to get about 49-51mpg on an almost daily 12 mile commute. I mean CONSISTENTLY getting 49 and the occasional 51. Today, I did it with 55mpg, with no effort. This was opposed the the same commute I did yesterday where I again hit 49.

So on my normal commute today, I got almost 70mpg in 55 degree weather. The best I've ever gotten was maybe 62mpg on gen2 wheels in warmer weather. Lightweight wheels fo make a difference. Keep in mind that my car is the AWD model that's rated lower in mpg and I'm also using 20mm spacers all around. My ride is so comfortable and enjoyable. 20210321_123013.jpeg

Almost one month later and temps have been warmer. I actually did hit 70mpg on my normal morning commute. Again, my car is NOT a prime or an L Eco. I have the awd model that has the lowest rated mpg of the bunch. I am very very happy. The car is looking great. Has just the right amount of drop, super comfortable, and pleasurable to drive around. 20210420_081127.jpeg 20210308_090718.jpeg

If you put the plastic trims back on it will raise your mpg even higher

Car looks amazing. Can I ask what you did to “drop” the car (coils?)?
