Overnight to get COVID shot

No covid vaccine has been properly approved. They are only approved for emergency use.

Maybe in 5-10 years I can trust it after the real trial is over.

You guys/gals are free to take the shot but do not force it upon us and we will be fine.

What did you expect from a vaccine? Immortality? Immunity to all disease?

Considering that Americans normally die at a rate of 8000 per day -- nevermind the pandemic-peak rate exceeding 11,000 per day in December and January -- we should now expect thousands of vaccinated people to be dying of non-covid reasons every day. This vaccine is not built or advertised to stop or slow all those other causes of death. It doesn't confer immortality or immunity to all those other illnesses.

The studies, and post-vaccine reports, are showing a greatly reduced rate of covid deaths among the vaccinated. And I'm seeing no reports of increased death rates from other causes.

Some of you will be fine. Some won't.

And some vaccinated but high risk people will get ill from unvaccinated people who pass it on.

For the moment, I do see some valid excuse for waiting out until the EUA is replaced by a full approval. But that excuse will mostly likely expire in much much less than 5 years.

 

I noticed you did not qualify, "some people are dying from the shots". I saw a story in the news of someone getting a severe allergic reaction to the shot. This morning I lied on the form. I have been feeling ill in the past 14 days. I wasn't feeling well this morning. Who knows what was going to happen as I wasn't feeling well and you should be well. I took the risk because I got the courage to go there in the first place.

You don't want to get it, so be it. I have a friend who lives alone and works online. She didn't want it either. Fine you live alone no risk to your household and you don't go out. But don't misinform the masses who would otherwise get the shot....

This is why I don't claim any of it to be facts. I do my research for my & daughters best interest.

And being a test subject is not 1 of them.

Corona virus is nothing new. It has been around for over 50 years and just like the flu there are bad variants that can kill people.

I have spent hours unmasked with covid positive people & continue to test negative.
Neighbor who contracted it unknown how as they did not leave their apartment nor have visitors in over 2 weeks prior to feeling ill.

They refused the hospital due to friends and family all died from being admitted to hospital. Dr's tell neighbor they are amazed they are still alive. (Senior, severe medical issues, fulltime oxygen for over 10 years)

You can continue to believe all your told by the elite..

I am not trying to change anyone's minds. But I will say to do valid research from the manufactures.

Personally if I was to take it I have more trust in j&j. And that is not saying I will ever do it.
It will be over my dead body.

What part of "if you don't want it then so be it" means I'm communist/socialist? I'm glad you spent hours with COVID + people and didn't get it. That means you're less likely to pass it on. BTW- I asked my pharmacist friend if she caught COVID when she gave me the shot yesterday morning. She said she thought she did because she got sick. She said she tested -. I then asked if it the tests are accurate. She said she got tested twice. Pretty compelling to me that she didn't get it not having studied the statistics. Did you get tested twice? Then I'll be convinced you did not catch it. There's always a margin of error in tests, but usually doing it twice quells that concern.

In the beginning when we were hearing word about this novel version from China, we were also told that some people may be naturally immune to it. Congratulations you're probably one of them. I hope your kids got your genes that they also don't. Half came from the other side which you didn't share how your significant other has fared....

If I was personally convinced I am already immune, I would not get vaccinated. I fear shots with a passion. Seeing the hundred or so cars lined up at Cal Poly Pomona (when we brought my parents) compels me to believe the risk/pain is worth it...

Fearing shots myself, I'd be pissed if someone was forced to take one. You're the one using terms such as elite socialist communist. (You're the one who seems upset you couldn't convince me to not get it.) There's probably space in the hospital ERs for you just in case you need it, which is perfectly fine for me. When/If they're full, then I'd worry....

Anecdotal report "I did not catch it" after exposure is murky. Because asymptomatic COVID cases exist and are apparently not rare. Question could probably be resolved with one or another antibody test, presuming a willing person.

Asymptomatic spread of COVID is one aspect arguing for high levels of caution in face masking and other personal choices.

Comedy routine on TV show about those people not getting a vaccine but gets serious at end when real Doctors in a funny/serious way make the point why vaccines are so important and why people need to get then and how frustrated Doctors are with people who don't. Apparently California has a real problem with this.

Not getting vaccinations has been a pretty Californian thing since before the 'Rona came along.....

 

It's required to give immunization record to enroll in schools so it isn't too bad....

Every time I see or hear something like that, the first question that comes in to my head is, when this person says 'elite', who does he or she mean?

I mean, it seems like 'elitism' is one way or another believing "I should have special pull because X", and X can be:

• Because my papa was the previous guy with special pull
• Because my parents furnished me with a boatload of money
• Because I've made a boatload of money
• Because I grew up in Y neighborhood with Z accent
• Because my skin is color W
• Because I studied subject S, or at university U
• ...

and there are sure-enough different people with elitist attitudes along all of those lines, and there can be overlaps and individuals who occupy more than one of those categories at once, but in general those different things you might mean by 'elitist' make a huge difference in who are the people you're talking about.

The pandemic year made a really striking example of that, because for pretty much the whole first year you could have seen it as two different notions of 'elite' facing off to compete for your attention, trust, and belief. So it kind of forced you to decide exactly what flavor of elitist or anti-elitist you are:

• You think it's kind of natural to listen to an immunologist about an infectious disease, but some kind of weird elitism to think the other guy's billionaire business career makes him an authority, or
• You think it's weird and elitist to listen to the immunologist, but perfectly natural to buy whatever a guy tells you if his airplane has gold-plated seatbelts.

 

vaccines - sticking a needle under the skin and injecting foreign substance in the hopes the immune system will 'more quickly ' .. ' develop anti-bodies/immunity' against the 'tiny bit of disease' being injected ...
