Nope. Mine was base model regular Vega 2dr hatch in bright orange color. Paid $300 for it.

I think the base had aluminum block and cast iron head. Cosworth had both aluminum block and head and twin cams. Also had electronic fuel injection while the base had a carb, if I remember right.

I don't know the detailed spec difference. I didn't even know about Cosworth Vega. Had to look it up. But I do remember my Vega had an aluminum engine. Didn't know about the cast iron head part though. Yes, it had a carburetor. That's how I learned about a shot of ether in the carb to start the engine in winter. Toward the end of my ownership, the car was burning oil more than gas. I took the car for a ~2k miles trip and ended up using a case (12 qt) of oil, but only 4-5 gas fill-ups. LoL

Yeah, not sure what year you had but the earlier ones were notorious for oil burning and blown head gaskets. Later models were much more reliable, maybe Chevy figured out a better gasket between the cast iron head and the aluminum block.

I know a lot about burning oil, my 2nd car (and first I drove legally on the street) was a ‘55 Chevy with a straight six that burned so much oil that my friends teased that it burned more oil than gas. I kept a 2 gallon bottle of “reclaimed” oil in the trunk so I could stop and top it off when needed. I got pulled over by a state trooper once because he thought the car was on fire.
