My headlights went out, but when I flash the brights they are working just fine! Obviously there's an issue with me driving around town with my brights on. I just replaced both headlights last year, so they should be good to go. I'm concerned it's a deeper electrical issue. Any advice here is helpful!
Well, gotta do it.............. Are you sure that the headlights are really turned ON ? The brights will flash even when they are OFF.
Same bulb different filament. All I can do is relate my experience owning the car 13 years. For many years in its early life I drove with the headlights on day or night. Those bulbs lasted about 5 years from new I think. Then I moved to Sylvania Super brights the one your showing and stopped doing lights on during the day. There super bright all right but super hot super short life. They lasted about a year and failed and when I replaced them found the sockets had burnt to a crisp. So replaced the sockets and installed the stock bulbs and haven't had an issue since in many many years. If you have been running those Sylvania for any length of time your sockets are probably toast. They sell the sockets at auto parts store and over the counter at the dealer just butt splice them or solder and heat shrink like I did. Easy way to get to them is pull the top part of the bumper down then you can take the whole headlight assy out.
Took your advice and got some basics. Looks like this is a common thing after further Googling. Thanks for the post!
yeah those super brights pull alot of power way more power than the stock socket is designed for. Something got to give. I was in a time crunch so went with the auto parts store. if I had another chance would buy the Toyota part instead. Never any regrets going oem.
